Rise of humanity: The Saga Of Steel

In a world ruled by elven kingdoms, goblin warlords, and mighty dragons a young race rises to power. Bearing the strength of steel and metal smithing previously nomadic, and primitive village dwelling human tribes in the West begin to form together into small kingdoms capable of expanding defending themselves from other races. However this growth and expansion begins to draw the eye of the flourishing elven kingdoms who see the expansion of humanity as a threat to their civilizations. In response the elves send a massive war party to quell humanity's expansion.


So that's the basic idea, I'm gonna make it center around the human side of the war. The world ass is known to humans is a single continent surrounded by an endless sea in the west are the petty human kingdoms, and to the east is the great elven empire. they are separated in the middle by a no mans land of goblins and dragons

And to lay out a couple more ideas. Magic won't be what it typically is that is to say it is not crazy powerful in battle, commonly fairly powerful wizards and witches can launch magic bolts which a skilled warrior can dodge or block with a shield or swat aside with a sword. Some can weave illusions, cure illnesses, and forge enchanted weapons, and cast incantations to invoke the elements (granted invocations are pretty long, so that isn't really viable in one on one combat). A typical foot soldier is no match for a wizard, and even your average knight can fall to a powerful one but usually if you put a wizard and a skilled non magic hero in a room to fight the latter will cut off the formers head.

Background : Arden is a young knight, and second born son in a fairly new line that began with his father, a foot soldier who se sill with a blade earned him a tittle in the eastern frontier kingdom, and a friendship with the king of the frontier. Arden himself is an eager knight, who due to his father knows the king quite well. During the first battle against the elven invaders he was a participant, and was forced to flee as their entire army had been completely overwhelmed. He also follows a northern religion and practices as he and his family are from the north

(approved be sure to read the rules on magic, now I set the scene)

As the elven armies march against the races of men and are met with the first signs of resistance from the kingdoms of the humans eastern frontier. The frontiersmen are a hardy bunch, practiced at fending off goblin raiders and savage beasts. The human king Bjorn the just has suplimented the standard footsoldiers and knights of his own army with many local conscripts and volunteers. The armies meet full force at shatter sword hold, humanity's eatern most fortress. Bjorns army mounts a fearsome defense but despite their advantages in fortifications and terian they are overwhelmed by the vast and disciplined hordes of elves and their army is broken in a matter of hours, and the king is killed on the field, by a hidden elven assassin. Remnants of Bjorn's army flee west. Some flee to hide, some to regroup in the armies of the western kings, a few hope to mount a last defense in the kings former capitol, but all know the eastern frontier is doomed. As they flee A knight by the name of Arden makes his way to the capital of the eastern border kingdom to evacuate what's left of the royal family before the rest of the eastern kingdom falls (which it surely will after the defeat of its army). Soon though he is ambushed by a small group of elves, part one of the squads sent to hunt down human remnants who escaped the total annihilation of the battle.


meanwhile in the plot. The knight Arden has engaged a pair of elven spearmen in combat normally a quick Victory for him had his sheild not been broken by an elven hammer during the previous battle. Put on the defensive he is forced back parrying and dodging a relentless flurry of blows until he is able to deflect the spear of the elf on his right into the way of the elf on his left with his broadsword. Serving only to momentarily break their assault, fortunately a moment is all he needed. Stepping to the right of the off balance elf on his right he quickly lops off one of the elf's legs then steps passed him through the other elf's guard and thrusts his blade into the elves chest. Arden pulls his bloody blade free of the dead elf just in time to block a curved elven sword speeding toward his head. Locking the blade with his cross guard he kicks the elf in the chest knocking him to the already blood soaked forest floor and thrusting his blade into the elven soldier's gut to finish him off.  Arden shakes his head as he wrenches his sword free of the dying elves gut and mercifully ends his life with a quick decapitation instead of leaving him to bleed out. While he was unharmed was not ok in the slightest, he was humiliated at the defeat they had suffered and his decision to retreat, he was furious after the death of his king, shot through the neck by a hidden archer "what coward would dare..." He started to ask to no one in particular in a voice trembling with shock and anger at the death of his king. Though weary and exhausted the knight rose to his feet, if he stayed resting here another group of elves would run him down and finish him off soon enough, hell they would probably catch him anyway, he needed to make sure that that did not happen by any means necessary, he must warn the royal family, and aid in their evacuation

Background: She was born and grew up in a great family in a developing port, she lived out of trouble until she was about 15 years old, but at that point things changed.
Equipment: Bow and arrow, slightly defensive leather armor and steel shoulder plates, leather boots, longsword, and dagger.

Age: 265
Gender: Male
Race: Elf
Skills: Good in combat using his sword, has a bit of strength, can easily pin weak humans, and shows no mercy to those who he thinks doesn't deserve it.
Background: He was born in a loving family in a wealthy town. He started to travel the world and was slowly improving upon existing skills. Through hard work, he blossomed in a strange world. But with his perseverance and capability, there's nothing to stop him from finding a way to the top.
Equipment: Leather armor, longsword, twin daggers, steel gauntlets, and steel helmet.

Javek was camping in a forest, it wouldn't take him long until he would reach the next town but it was already becoming dark so he had made a shelter out of wood and leaves as well as a campfire to keep himself warm. He was eating bread as he sat besides the fire, unconcerned of the world around him.

Odette was considered a knight but she didn't wear too much armor because she relied on stealth. Her family was stealthy as well, so she had inherited the speed from both her parents and her sharp firing the bow skills from her father. She sniffed the air, smelling a fire burning close by within the forest. Goblin perhaps? she thought to herself before she swiftly ran in the direction of the smoke, wondering what was going on over there. Not knowing it was another human (Javek).

Mandrake stepped on a large cliff over-looking the human kingdom. His long, blonde hair swayed in the wind and he sighed. His eyes a bright green. He had a look of power, and he indeed wanted power. He would show he was useful to the other elves like him. He wanted fame, glory, victory. He chuckled evilly, not knowing yet what he was getting himself into.

Javek heard the sounds of running coming from one of the directions, not knowing what would run from there he stood up and looked into the direction ready to defend himself if must. Perhaps it was a wild animal?

Arden loudly trudged along through the forest in his chain armor. He was clearly a knight, and not in any way a master of stealth, and his face, and equipment were well soaked and blood not his own, No bandit in their right mind would even consider taking a swing at him the way he looked; especially given how he was well armed, and armored he was. He supposed it also helped that he clearly had nothing of value that would be worth a bandits time

Odette, a young woman with long curly brown hair and blue eyes stepped out of the brush and skidded to a halt in front of him. It is then he could notice the bow slung over her shoulder, the arrow holder on her back, and a longsword in its sheath at her waist. She had suspected him to be a goblin, but after closer inspection she saw he was human like her. That made her relax. She stared at him. "Who are you?" she asked him, blinking her blue eyes.

Javek looked as a woman came from the bushes, she was well armed with a bow and a longsword. The woman Odette would see a young man with short brushed down black hair, grey eyes and dressed in a lavender colored robe with a hood on his head and with a red silky robe tied to his waist and brown boots under it. On his belt was a nice looking dagger and he was holding a wooden staff made from a birch tree. The woman asked Javek who he was so he answered politely. "My name is Javek, a traveling priest of Vamiun, the God of the moon. So, how can I help you?" Javek asked her as he wasn't sure why she was in the forest alone unless she was a hunter or something.

(Encounter Mandrake for all I care! XD)

Odette couldn't help but chuckle. "Hope you don't take offense, but you're the weirdest looking priest I've ever seen." she said before she gave him a cute little curtsey. "I am Odette, I am a lone knight." she told him in greeting.

Mandrake slid down the cliff and started heading accidentally in Arden's direction, his blonde hair flowing behind him. He wore some steel gauntlets, and on his waist he wore a belt holding a sheathed longsword.

Arden stumbled into mandrake through the underbrush, in such a way the powerful knight knocked the elf over

Javek sat back down on the ground in front of his fire, he took more bread from his leather backpack and offered it to Odette. "I can share my fire and bread with you, if you are hungry and weary. But tell me, what would a knight like you find in wandering a forest like this?" Javek asked her since usually wandering knights like her go to the nearest town and get a room in the local inn and not stay in dangerous forests at night.

Mandrake fell onto his back hard before he got up and glared at the knight responsible. He chuckled and pulled out his longsword and waited for him to make the first move.

Odette laughed hard. "Share bread and fire with a priest?! I've never done such a thing before! Are you sure you wouldn't mind it?" she asked him before hearing his second question, at this, her face paled. "I got to watch out for goblins and elves. Any enemy can be hiding in these woods." she told him truthfully.

As the elf was on the ground, Arden, ever an honorable knight backed up to allow him to stand

Javek wasn't sure why Odette found this funny, he was just giving her his hospitality even if they were in this dangerous forest but he answered her. "I don't mind, just sit down in front of the fire and let it warm you. The sun is setting and it is getting dark, cold usually follows so being at a fire is always nice. And having something to eat too is always a plus side." He continued to offer Odette the bread, he didn't know when she had last eaten so he was being nice to the female knight.

Mandrake unsheathed his longsword and raised it. "Get out of here!" he shouted, eyes narrowed.

Odette chuckled at him. She then sat down on the fallen log next to him and looked at the fire, warming up her hands. She took the bread and smiled at him. "I guess I owe you a thank you, Javek." she muttered with a smile before she bit into the bread.

"I don't think so" The knight said firmly, his blade ready for battle. Still he raged over the death of his king and we would make every elf he encountered pay for it

Javek smiled at her a bit, he was enjoying the evening and he usually didn't have company but now he had so he was trying to have conversation. "So why are you in these woods? Since you did mention Goblins and Elves..." Javek asked her since she had not told him her reasons, surely as a lonely knight she had no masters so what was she doing here?

At his question, Odette frowned deeply. "I'm here to avenge my family. They were killed by mostly goblins, but the last was killed by an elf." she told him truthfully. He noticed how upset she looked because she had stopped eating.

Mandrake swiped his blade at first at his legs. He had been in combat like this before.

(Wait how does she know the king is dead, he died like an hour ago?)

Arden deflected the blade and locked it with is own sword . With that out of the way he punched Mandrake in the nose
