After carefully measuring out the amount he'll be able to lift he gets on the bench and starts lifting "You said that wrong, the correct title was 'The bestest there's ever been' , get it right next time sweetheart "

"My deepest apologies, I hope one day you will come to forgive such a blunder," She responded solemnly.

"NEVER " He replies his voice going down three octaves out of nowhere.

"It is understandable; my mistake was a grave one indeed," She said, the corners of her mouth twitching as she tried not to smile.

"There is no excuse for your mistakes, you must now live out the rest of your days in solitude , so you can learn the error of your ways"

"It has to be done," She gave a nod, but eventually just burst out laughing.

Chris doesn't laugh because if he moves to much he'll drop his weights and break his neck, but he does grin.

"Do you work out the same reason I bake?" She asked, tilting her head as she looked at him amidst the pile of cushions.

"No , I work out to keep up this sexy bod of mine in shape just in case shit goes down, you bake because you like baking"He responds with slight effort.

"You're so very modest, aren't you," She laughed.

"Said Devi" He replies smirking.

She stuck her tongue out at him.

He can't really see her all that well from this position so he assumes she didn't do anything and begins to let his mind wander.

"Did you answer my question?" She asked, with a slight frown. "About how you were doing?"

"Huh, oh no I don't think so, I was doing terrible until you came around to be honest "He replies sharply as he continues lifting .

He seemed to be taking it worse than she was. But that was understandable; Devi was quite used to people leaving. "I'm sorry. That all this shit happened." He really didn't deserve it, he was too good a person.

"Why are you sorry ? None of this is your fault" He replies raising a brow as he puts down the barbell and sits up to look at her.

She shrugged dismissively. "It's what people say when bad shit happens."

"Yeah but it doesn't really make any sense , since well...being sorry is regretting something you've done, all you've ever done is help" He replies as he picks a smaller weight and starts curling.

"Perhaps not enough," She replied, quieter.

His eyes widen "Wait what?" He asks as he looks her in the eye.

"Oh, nothing," She popped a smile on her face, and decided to swiftly change the subject. "Hey, have you read 'The Blade Itself'?"

Chris crosses his arms at this , a skeptical eyebrow raised as he glances over her "Devi, let's really not do this right now"

"Do what?" she looked at him, all innocent.

"You said something earlier, I heard it, and I don't want to be that guy but I feel like it's important , or you're feeling a certain way about something but think it better not to talk about"
