Rise of humanity: The Saga Of Steel

Unknowingly to them at the moment, the war horn had woken up something worse than goblins, much worse. A red scaled creature with a long spiked back opened its bright yellow eyes and let out a bloodcurdling roar as it hated being woken up. Parath, the dragon was named, saw the object making the noise but assumed it was Vesryn and the two knights that were obviously running. She spread her wings out and took flight, letting out loud growls as she flew towards them. She breathed fire which ignited the path before them before making herself be spotted. She was furious at them and driven mad by being woken up, she was wanting to kill them, possibly even eat them.

Odette obediently followed after him before gasping as she heard a loud roar. What animal made that?! she asked herself in thought. Her eyes widened as flames blocked their path.

arden blinked with a sigh as from the cave rushed a swarm of goblins, which left them trapped in between dragon fire and about a hundred goblins and counting

Parath was going after the 3 of them, but some of the goblins when they saw her threw their spears at her face and that made her breathe fire out in their direction, taking out a couple dozen.

Odette looked at Arden. "Lets leave while the goblins have it distracted!" she told Arden quickly.

Arden nodded and made a run for the forrest as quickly as he could

Odette quickly followed after him.

Parath was so enraged she actually started biting the goblins, killing them, and then flinging them up in the air. Not long after she breathed fire on them, those that remained had retreated or started chasing after Arden and the elf he was carrying. Parath lifted into the sky and roared loudly.

(So he's running towards them now?)

Odette sighed deeply and pulled out her bow and set an arrow on its string. She pointed it up at the sky and at Parath, aiming at her face. She let the arrow fly, and it should be a direct hit.

Parath roared as the arrow flew towards her, but she had no time to react. The arrow made a direct hit in her left eye, blinding it. She roared with pain before breathing fire in Arden's direction, flapping her wings as she hovered above them a little away.

"S***!" Arden yelled leaping out of the way of the raging blast of flame. He barely succeeded in avoiding the flames while keeping hold of Vesyrn and ended up tumbling to the ground as he tripped

Suddenly the enormous dragon felt something human sized land on her head and shout as loud as it could in her left ear to get her attention. The assassin shadow who had been searching for the refugees to offer his services, had finally found what looked like some knights in serious trouble against a dragon, so he decided to lend a hand, by distracting it and perhaps luring the great beat away

Odette watched as somebody she didn't recognize bravely landed on top of the dragon's head. What in the hell are they doing?! she thought in amazement.

Parath furiously growled and waved her head back and forth in an attempt to shake the annoying pest off of her. She opened her mouth as she did so, so if he slipped she would take a limb off.

'You missed!" the pale young man no older than sixteen, taunted her as leapt off her back onto a branch of a nearby tree "WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP!" he yelled throwing one of his knives into the gums of her open mouth, and sprinting away through the trees

Definitely distracted by the moron who climbed on her, Parath roared and flew after him, powerfully beating her wings in the air. She then breathed fire trying to catch him off-guard so she can claw or bite him.

Odette quickly ran over to where Arden tripped. "Are you okay?" she asked her general, worried about how he narrowly escaped the flames.

Vesryn slipped from Arden's grasp as he tripped, rolling to a stop. The fall snapped the arrow that was still protruding from her leg, causing her to let out a cry of pain as it shifted in the wound. Her breaths came up sharp gasps, and she sucked in a deep breath, mustering all her remaining energy to heave herself onto all fours. Her limbs shook with the exertion, her face drawn in pain. Her hair had escaped it's bounds, and now tumbled around her shoulders in quite a state. The elf used a tree to support her weight, and pulled herself to her feet, though immediately when she put any pressure on her injured leg, it buckled beneath her, sending her to the ground once more. She raised her hair, hating how pathetic she felt. Her brows creased together when the dragon seemed to be distracted by someone, but she couldn't see whom.

Arden had twisted his ankle but managed to stand with vesyrn "I'll be fine but she isn't looking good, we don't have a healer in camp do we." he asked Odette knowing they did not and that left them only one place to go

"Whoop, Whoop Whoop!" somehow the young man managed to avoid the fire with almost inhuman agility he just hope he lost her before he ran out of trees

Odette shook her head and glanced around nervously. "At least the dragon's distracted." she muttered gladly.

Parath roared in frustration before diving towards the trees ahead of him, trying to make him stop running and actually manage to do damage, ironic part is it would do damage to her. But she was too persistent to care and she blocked out the pain since her scales were hard. She breathed fire directly at him, growling furiously.

Shadow leaped over the infeno just in time to avoid being burned and used her head as a stepping stone too reach the tree behind her "someone needs to work on their aim!" he taunted

"Then I know where we must go...." arden said to Odette as he limped towards a sa semi distant mountain carrying the elf woman

As he leaped off her head Parath turned around and bit down on his leg before flinging him into a tree, the bite didn't do that much damage, but it was enough to grasp him and fling him. She roared furiously at him and dived down, attempting to land on top of him to crush him from underneath her.

Odette looked worried as he was limping. "Are you sure you're alright? You're limping!" she exclaimed with worry. She had placed her bow back on her back and was following him closely.

Arden nodded at oddette assuring her "I've had worse, I only twisted an ankle so i'll be fine"

Shadow rolled to the side and threw another throwing knife into her uninjured eye as the dragon dived toward the spot where he used to be

Parath roared as loud as she could and breathed fire in all directions, intending on getting him this time even if it hurt herself in the process. She hated being blind because she hated no idea where she was going, but she couldn't give in now, she was still alive, she was just very disoriented by her new blindness.

Odette still looked a bit worried but fell silent. She glanced around, alert for any enemies or the dragon to come back, which she doubted would happen any time soon.

Vesryn laid a hand on Arden's chest in an attempt to push herself away from his hold on her. "I can walk," She said softly, her voice somewhat hoarse. She wasn't entirely sure if it was true, however, but she felt so helpless in this position, not to mention Arden would be more useful when he didn't have to carry her.

The smell of something burning permeated Ysabel's nose, and she looked around for the source of it. Thick black smoke billowed from the trees a little ways away, and crimson flames licked the sky. It was spreading - towards them. "Fire," She said, gripping Epona's arm to pull her in the opposite direction and she searched around for her son. "Fire!," She called louder, so the guards could hear and flee with them.

Epona's eyes widened as she watched the fire grew near. "Mom." she said fearfully, holding her mom close. She was getting quite scared, simply by the fact the flames were so close that she was started to feel the heat of them. "I'm scared. I'm scared, mom!" she added in, panting with fear. She gulped nervously before looking towards the guards. "We must flee, or else we'll be burned to death! Head for the closest water, the water will protect us!" she commanded the soldiers.

Parath roared furiously and charged towards empty air, charging straight into a tree. She roared in pain as she was stunned as to his location. Her nostrils flared as she tried to sniff him out instead. She wasn't at all used to not having eye-sight.

The caravan fled from the fire and scatterred without a commanding presence to keep them calm and orderly in retreat, rowan stuck close to the queen and princess though, he had given his word to protect them so he would, as did some of the guards

Shadow drew his katana and began slashing at her, moving to another spot before she could react he made no sound and she could not smell him through all the smoke

"no you can't" Arden said as she had tried and fallen not five minutes before "and even if you could you couldn't move quickly enough." He said picking up the pace towards a mountain not too far in the distance "The king had a friend in these parts who might help us" He explained

Vesryn narrowed her eyes, her jaw setting stubbornly. He was right; she would slow them down greatly... But he could leave her behind. He should leave her behind. Why isn't he? "Why?" She asked, finally voicing the question that had been on her lips since the attack. "Why help me? I am no more use to you. Why did you not leave the goblins to..." Rape and brutally murder me. Her voice drifted off, the words too difficult to speak aloud. Too mortifying and horrific to even think of. Imagine, her, a warrior, being bested by those short, spineless heathens. Left to be rescued by someone else like a silly princess. She had gone soft; these damn humans and those damn chains.

The situation was dire with all the things going on, even a dragon came to bother them as their people were now scattered due to the fire and panicking, the situation didn't look good and he saw everyone going in completely different directions. Emron had no idea what to do in this situation, even his own guards were either somewhere else or already killed.
