Kai's training

Though Crow was an experienced wizard he was as new to teaching magic as kai was to learning it but how hard could it be? One night he and kai met on the surface of the remote mountain for training, if he recalled traditional methods would have an apprentice learn how to  cast a basic magic bolt first. It was not only an easy to learn spell that allowed for some measure off self defense, it was also a sort of introduction to channeling and shaping magic into a controlled projectile. "we'll be starting with a basic magic bolt spell you'll likely master within a week" Crow announced, he had given kai a book on the spell earlier so crow asked "How much reading have you done on it or have you been too busy settling in?"

Kai had arrived the the place, meeting Crow so he they can finally get on with this magic stuff. "I have read a few pages, when I had nothing else to do... So I have some knowledge but not practice... Is that why we are here? For practical use?" Kai asked, as he had brought the book with him he set it next to a rock.

Crow nodded and gave him a recap of the spell "Magic bolt is the spell most apprentices learn first int their training because it is perhaps the easiest to learn, it's ussually underrated as initially it is just a concussive bolt of blue force, but as you become more powerful so will it it will take on additional traits based on the magic you learn, a pyromancer's will become super heated, a mage who favors necromancy will have a bolt that harms the targets life energy as well as maintaining force, others who generalize will  have it take on the trait of the spells they best... identify with." Crow explained and pointed to a  scarecrow he had set up 10 meters away  on the flat bit of the mountain they too were on "Give the spell your best first shot"

Kai listened and nodded, he took a good position and tried casting a spell first time. He was able to make a blue orb of magic, but it did not fly very far.

"You need to make sure the bolt holds together, it's the hardest part" Crow explained to him "Otherwise it will come apart like that"

Kai raised an eyebrow at that, he gave it another try and the bolt flew a bit farther this time. "Okay, I think I got this..." Kai focused himself and soon made a bolt that hit the target.

Crow looked at the target with a nod and wanted to see what kind of damage it did

Kai just waited for Crow's judgement.

The scarecrow had a a hole on it, but not all the way through.

"Not bad but, you need to put more power into it, to knock someone off their feet or kill them is the goal" Crow explained

Kai nodded and spoke. "Right... Well, I guess I will have to practice it... Stand back old man... I'm going to give it another shot..." Kai said and prepared to cast the spell.

Crow stepped out of the way and nodded

Kai tried one more time, so he cast the spell and it flew with great speed piercing the scarecrow completely.

"Not too bad though you'll need to practice a lot more" Crow said to him

Kai nodded, then spoke. "Thanks, but what else is there than this?" Kai asked as he stretched his arms.

"Your binding of the magic is still weak your bolt is losing a lot of power on the way" Crow informed  him

Kai scratched his head and spoke. "Hmmm... Is that so? What sort of feeling for it I need?" Kai asked, he was not sure what the magic at his fingertips was supposed to feel like proper.

"Your only problem is you  need to pack it tighter" Crow explained to him "Hold it together"

Kai tried to do practice with his hands first, he tried to get a feeling for it.
