Eph opens his mouth to say something but decides to just give Val a glare.

Val Ignores him coldly

After a few moments of silence Eph just asks "Why?"

"Saying people got off on the wrong foot is just a just a way of trying to excuse the fact they don't like eachother" Valstad calmly explained "I don't need to excuse the fact i dislike you: you're uncreative with magic, you're kind of a jerk, and you're richer than you deserve to be."

"Oh I'm no trying to excuse the fact , I don't like you either ,you have a massive superiority complex ,you're a bit of a bitch , and the only time I've ever seen you smile is when you thought someone suffering from amnesia was funny , all I'm saying is I'd rather we not be at each others throats this entire time , because it'd make both of our lives much less annoying" He replies bluntly "Also I don't see how you can dislike me for being rich , I didn't ask to be rich , my parents just had money"

Cerise just watched them because this was probably the closest thing to a heart to heart that they could get.

"I dislike you, you're not worth my hatred" Valstad clarified not at all phased or swayed by the rich boy's criticism "I don't dislike you because you're rich I dislike you because you're a waste of your magical talent and wealth. Mostly because you're too stupid to use them effectively. Really you're the most stupid highly intelligent person i have ever met and you disgust me." Valstad said showing no emotion at all

"How do I not use them effectively ? How would you know? You've barely known me for a week you judgemental ass" He replies in a cold tone "Look I get that you crawled your way from nothing and all that shit and that's all fine and good ,but some people just plain have it easier ,and I don't know if that makes you feel bitter or inadequate but quite frankly I don't care alright ? All I'm saying is us not constantly arguing over everything would be nice ,both to make my life a little less annoying ,and to restore some sense of proffesionality " He states bluntly "Put simply I don't give two shiny shits how you feel I just want you to shut the fuck up"

"Because every time you've been called upon to use magic it's a cascade of uncreative fuck ups, with the machines? a cascade of fuckups, With these dragons? Primarily a cascade of fuckups with one lucky hit" He answered Ephraim's question rather calmly

Cerise cleared her throat. "That's it you guys, if you're both going to argue constantly, one of you can piss off." It was probably the meanest thing she had ever said in her life, and guilt immediately washed in. But she folded her arms and stood her ground.

"You still seem to be under the illusion that I ,or say anyone else ,actually give a fuck what you think of them" Eph replies blankly "And to be honest I think it's time you realize that just because you're pretty good at magic , doesn't mean anyone gives a damn about you"

"I don't care what lesser men like yourself think of me. I'm not telling you what i think of you i'm telling what you are." Valstad was thoroughly amused the idiot thought he cared what others thought of him, he actually cracked a smile at this. Really the only thing that offended him was the phrase"Pretty good at magic" Pretty good? he was a goddamn prodigy, well that was one thing he would not stand, that was like someone saying cerise was "Ok at dancing I guess." he looked at cerise and took the coin purse she had given him for this job off his belt and tossed it to her "If you don't want my services anymore it's your funeral" he said

"Hey, hey, wait no don't go!" She cried, going to hand the purse back to him.

"You ....you're really still not getting it are you? Oh my god it's like talking to a brick wall ,here I'll talk slower so your neanderthalic mind can understand ,I don't care ....about anything...you fucking say...I just want you....to shut the fuck up" He explains in a slow voice like he's talking to a toddler .

"And i couldn't give less of a shit about what you want, you started this conversation in the first place i was perfectly content walking in silence, but you wanted to start this, like hell i'm letting you have the last word." This asshole had started to conversation and was now telling Valstad to shut the fuck up. Exactly what valstad had been asking him to do far more politely all day." Valstad accepted the purse form cerise and nodded at her "I'm your body guard as long as you wish it, but ask me to go and i will bare you no hard feelings" he assured her

"I originally started this conversation so we could in some way come to terms , because we share a job and It'd make that job easier if we don't like you know ,constantly have recent reasons to dislike each other ,like that time you threatened to kill me like five minutes ago ,but you were all like 'nope ' and so here we are " Eph replies "All I asked for was a bit of proffessionality , you know ,or perhaps the chance to have a conversation without you throwing insults at me ,but no apparently that's too much to fucking ask for!" He replies ,gritting his teeth as he storms off.

"Well you should have known better" Val said waving to him and hoping he won't come back

Cerise looked at Val and folded her arms. Then she went after Eph. "Hey, wait are you leaving us?"

Cerise is hit in the face by a bag of money.

(She never paid him did she?)

This prompts valstad to step in as the asshole hits Cerise in the face with a bag of heavy coins, just to make sure she is ok

(Nope ,he's just paying her for the trouble of having to deal with the two of them, also the bag was thrown by the way)
