Escape

Daniel just laughed and chucked a pillow at his brother... then there was a loud knock at the door. Daniel went quiet, there was no way in hell that was the pizza, could be the owner or a confused guest with the wrong room, but Daniel had seen way too much weird shit to not be suspicious today. Maybe he was just on edge from that thing he and Dia had encountered earlier, but the fae put a finger to his lips, and gave his brother a look that screamed "Don't answer that" Now flynt knew that while Daniel was ussually laid back, and even a bit cocky there were a few things that made him right and properly paranoid, one of them was uninvited guests though he had never said why.

"Are you not going to answer?" Dia said in a hushed whisper, sensing the tension in the room.

Flynt simply slid out his long iron knife and calmly went towards the door to look through the hole.

Daniel shook his head and got up, he formed a blue spectral recurve bow which oddly enough everyone there but him probably recognized as a common fae weapon manifested from their being for firing elf shot and worse, in his hand, and stayed back a bit to cover Flynt, because bunching up was never a good idea. At the door Flynt saw a what looked like a scruffy hobo in tattered clothes that were stained with frankly who knows what. The woman was breathing heavily, salivating to a rather inordinate degree, and when  Flynt looked closely he could see one arm was longer than the other. Only when Flynt reached the peep hole did the woman stop, and looked right up at the peephole, silently staring right into his eyes. Daniel meanwhile was waiting anxiously to hear what it was, magic bow in hand.

Dia meanwhile crept the the far end of the room.

Flynt felt the distinct need to recoil away as soon as he saw her, the strings of saliva falling from her lip disgusting him. He had no disdain for a regular homeless person, he couldn't his brother was a hobo himself. But there was something wrong about the woman, no the creature at the door..and he could sense it was not human. Or at least not anymore.

It just stood there looking up at him, it didn't move to leave or open the door, just stood there, salivating and looking right into his eyes.

"Who is it?" Dia asked hesitantly.

"Yeah fuck no I'm getting the shotgun." He replied flatly and walked off to another room "Shoot it if it comes in Daniel."

"Well what the hell is it?" Daniel asked still not having seen the thing, he was in agreement with Dia here that knowing was half the battle.

"Homeless lady salivating all over the doorstep, seems possessed, and I'm not an exorcist." He replied with an almost chilling level of calm.

Daniel was silent for a moment, while he didn't know anything about that demon stuff he'd seen other types of possession though and knew they could be some nasty business. His eyes sparked with recognition at the word "Salivating" which prompted the fae to ask with a slightly disturbed look "Did they have any... strange proportions...? Specifically in their arms, neck, or legs?"

"Arm longer than the other." He replied curtly, the next noise from him the pumping of a shotgun "It's a shapeshifter?" He questioned, knowing Danny had experience with that sort of thing.

Dia remained entirely useless in the corner.

"Something like that... you can stay here for a while..."  Daniel suddenly offered to Dia "No one leaves the house til morning, it won't come out in the city in broad daylight."

"Or we could just kill it." Flynt suggested, he could feel the urge bubbling up in his blood even now as he stood there, protected by a door and stone and plaster. What was this thing to stand at his doorstep and slobber all over the ground?

"We can do that if you want... probably" Daniel nodded somewhat reluctantly, and added after a moment with a nod at the shotgun "But it's not some fleshgait, so you may as well put that down because it ain't gonna do much except piss it off..." He began to say as the knocking resumed again.

"What is it?"

"Seems to be some kind of monster wearing some poor old lady's body, if we can I'd like to kill it, so it doesn't go hurting someone else." Flynt explained as he begrudgingly set down his shotgun.

"No those are fleshgaits, these ones hide out in abandoned buildings and eat stray cats and hobos, sometimes they take human form or mimic voices to lure people in... they're ussually very committed to their nests and opportunistic this one is strange as hell... Alright, got anything flammable?" Daniel asked over the knocking sound after a bit of thought. It probably said something that despite his knowledge of these creatures, and their apparently extremely dangerous and difficult to kill nature Daniel continued to spend time in dilapidated buildings. "It's the thing from earlier. It must like you as much as I do." He joked at Dia clapping her on the shoulder.

"I got some aerosol anti-bug spray and a lighter." He replied.

"How do you know that?" She asked Daniel.

"I've spent a lot of time in old buildings and such, I spent a lot of my life without a home..." Daniel explained to her; he shifted uncomfortably at the memory of his first meeting with one, the first cryptid he ever encountered, and it had left him with painful memories of the death of a simpler time "Alright I'll slip out the back and distract it, you get ready to open the door and light it up..." Daniel knew it'd be risky using any powers so close to people, but he could probably distract it without using them... and if worse came to worse... well what's the worst that could happen if a few humans and maybe a camera see it it's not like this was for something inane like robbing a shop...

Flynt nodded and ran over to get the Raid and lighter, it'd been a loong time since he'd used anything like this, but new methods to kill monsters were always appreciated.
