Hitting the town

"Well by the smell they're fey." He remarked with a shrug as he pointed over to an ice cream shop that lay across from the edge of the park.

She gave him an amused look, visibly relaxing almost immediately. "Your worrying is adorable."

I'm not worried." He replied with an indignant snort .

"Awww sure you aren't, " she teased with a friendly grin.

"I don't even know your name...and I'm pretty sure you just told me it." He returned the smile as he put on a pair of sunglasses.

"Names are overrated. Best not to through them about too willingly lest some creature use it against you."

Mutt shrugged "I mean I already told you mine so."

She grinned. "So you did."

"Does that mean I'm your 'mortal plaything' or something'" He replied with a grin that had just a hint of flirtation.

"Only if you want to be," she replied with a wink

The main square , bustling with people as almost within reach of the too now , the crowd creating safety as most assailants weren't keen on getting a hunter squad called in. Yet as safety grew nearer and nearer a line of purple fire burst out across their path , which none of the humans seemed to notice..they were being cut off.

Her footsteps halted as the fire erupted in front of them. Nerves now coiled in the pit of her stomach and she looked around apprehensively. "Well shit."

Mutt on the other hand simply put up his dukes without a word , preparing for whatever may follow , the dead silence of the park becoming almost suffocating .

She unconsciously stepped closer to him looking around nervously.

Stepping out from behind a single tree , three figures glared them down , eyes pure black , skin dark blue and with slight scaling , fire burning around their hands , kobolds..fae of fire and earth. Swiftly the three moved around to corner the pair against the flame wall , and it was clear they would not get out of this without a struggle. "...So , any idea why they're after us?" Mutt questioned quietly as his muscles began to bulge and stretch through his shirt , fangs beginning to extend into gleaming daggers.

"Beats me, I bet they're after you?" She hissed back. She took the silver collapsible staff from her pocket where it burst free into its full length. She twirled it in her fingers., blowing some of the fire away from them. "Okay boys I was enjoying myself before you showed up "

"And I will enjoy returning your head to our master." The tallest one replied coldly as the other two circled around towards their flanks. Mutt growled lowly in response , frightening teeth bared as he glowered at each of the three , more than ready for another meal. For a while the park was dead silent as they sized each other up , preparing for the brutal fight to come. Then without warning each of the three attacked , the two on the flanks dashing into melee range while the one in the middle threw a ball of flame.

Linn twisted the staff, bashing one of the two that ran towards them in the chest, before ducking beneath the ball of flame which allowed her to stick the staff between the same ones legs and pull his feet out from under him.

The kobold went down with a thud and threw a spray of sparks towards the other fae's eyes as the other rushed her with a blade. Mutt on the other hand had managed to pin his target to the ground ,and with red fur now covering most of his still humanoid body was trying to claw the fae's throat out.

She rolled out of the way of the sparks, and spotted the second fae ot of the corner of her eyes. She knocked his blade to the side with her staff.

As she did tht the second tried to put her in a chokehold.

She grabbed his arm and immediately headbutted him with the back of her head, trying to pull his arm away.

However right as she was about to do so , the kobold's hand whipped over her mouth ,bearing a cloth covered in some glowing smoky substance , and within seconds she found her eyes slowly closing as she drifted off into a deep , unsteady slumber. The only sound disrupting her sleep , Mutt's growls of furious struggle....then nothing.

She continued struggling, hands clawing at the one over her mouth. Her movements became increasingly desperate as panic set in, yet the substance, whatever it is, slowed her momentum, her brain fogged and her eyes drifted closed. Her last thought was she wished she could apologise to Mutt for failing him.

For a long long time she drifted in a deep abyss of slumber , the world lost to her mind as she slept uneasily , a deep fear present even now that she could not shake. Dark dreams held power over her mind , twisting visions of her worst fears held sway until suddenly she awoke to a cold stone floor.
