Finding Work

Seth had ventured out from his shack to actually get a better feel for the Undercity, though sadly as he looked at some of the things on sale at the market it reminded him of his human life when he could just visit a shop and buy a bag of chips. Seth had no money here or anything to trade, he had little knowledge how things worked here either so he was going to need help. Seth made his way back to his shack, but as he looked at his neighbor Edward's shack he wondered if he could ask him questions, he was bound to be knowledgeable about how things were run down here so he might as well ask. Seth went over and knocked on the door.

Edward was listening to the radio, but when he hear  a knock on his door he opened it curious to see who was knocking on his door, he didn't get many visitors, and he was particularly surprised to see the young vampire seth, and he asked "Hey fledgling, how's it going?"

Serh then started to explain. "Well, I had things to talk about... And you are practically the only vampire down here that I know... Even though I have been here for 5 years, I haven't really studied how things work here... Can you... Explain things...?" Seth asked of Edward, the guy was creepy, but he had showed him kindness at a time of need.

"Sure what do you want to know about?" Edward stepped aside and invited him into the small one room shack

Seth stepped into Edward's shack, he spoke as well. "Can you tell me what sort of currency do you use? And how do I get it? And is there anyone in charge?" Seth asked, he really had no idea.

"We use U.S. currency, how else would merchants buy goods from surfacers?" Edward explained to him "You work as a merchant, steal it or find a job"

Seth nodded, that made sense he guessed. To think vampires found value in human made currency was, interesting... Seth spoke more then. "Okay, got it... But I am out of money... How do I get some? Like, is there anyone that would employ me?" Seth said as he wondered these things.

"Yeah i know someone, an elder vampire who lives beneath the undercity, a good guy, he's my boss" Edward assured the young one

Seth nods, maybe this was his chance to earn some money. "Oh really? So, can he employ me and then I could, you know, earn some money to spend on some small luxuries..." Seth wondered, he was willing to do this.

"Yes indeed he always need servants of some sort for his manor. He'll make sure you get blood too" Edward assured him

Seth nodded and had a small smile, the arrangement looked nice enough... At least he would not have to go up to the surface to hunt, he did not like the procedure even though the taste of blood always made him feel drunk and not care about it. "Uh-huh... Sounds nice enough... Can I... Meet him about it?" Seth asked of Edward, he should be able to lead him to the guy.

Edward moved aside the couch and motioned to the hatch "That's the way to his place, i'm the door man"

Seth was not expecting the entrance to be here, this was a bit too convenient but... Guess it just worked like that. "Oh? So, I will just go down there...?" Seth asked as he approached the hatch warily.

"That is the situation" Edward confirmed

Seth nodded, he was ready to a bit scared he was as well. "Okay, I guess I can go..." Seth said as he went over to the hatch and about to open it and jump in.

There was a ladder leading down to a shockingly verdant passages

Seth just looked at the place, it looked a lot different than he had thought. He walked forward trying to look where this elder vampire was that might be willing to hire him, though he wondered how some of these things were possible.

When he reached the bottom of the ladder she was treated with  a rather verdant path dirt path with all manner of plants and such growing along side the path. It was a testament to orlock's skill in magic that he had managed to make grass as well as some more exotic plants grow under ground, they reminded him of the surface without the damn sun, and he needed them for potions. After a short time the passage opened up to a several acre domed space in which sat Orlock's multibuilding victorian estate

Seth went along the path, until he saw the rather impressive manor underground. Seth was unsure how this was all possible, but he went over to knock on the door carefully.

"Hey there"  the voice of a young woman came from behind seth "Here for a job huh?"

Seth turned around as he heard the voice, and for some reason whoever it was knew what he was here for.

Behind him was what looked like a young woman wearing a kimono, with pale skin, long hair, and smooth skin, pretty but unnatural looking it would take him a few moments to see that she definitely wasn't human or even vampire, the black soulless eyes were part of  the give away. "I'm Mari, you're Seth good to meet you" She introduces herself and offered a handshake

Seth was weirded out by the woman, it wasn't a vampire or a human for that matter... But the fact that she knew his name made Seth a bit afraid, regardless he shook her hand cautiously. "Y-yeah... I came to look for work... So how do I apply...?" Seth asked her, wondering if he was giving a good or a bad first impression.

"I'll take you to my father" Mari offered happily, "Since i didn't kill you he knows he can trust you, i'm very good at reading minds."

Seth wasn't sure where this was going, but definitely the woman could read minds as she knew why he was here and his name. That fact unsettled Seth a bit, he was not used to this but he followed her to speak with the elder vampire.
