The oblivious stranger

The day after the group leaves the Wizards's lodge inn there is a strange sight on the road. A handsome stranger being shook down by bandits, and that's not the part that's odd, the part that's odd is he doesn't even seem to recognize a shakedown is taking place. After awaking in a ditch by the  side of the road, with nothing on him but a knife, a cloak, and some black cloth outfit. The man tried to recall how he had gotten here, but came up with nothing, on that he didn't even remember who he  was. He didn't exactly remember anything, but he did know a few things, like those berries in that bush by the road were not poisonous; so he grabbed a handful, and looked around as he munched on them. He was on a path in the middle of the woods, if he followed it one way it would probably lead him to people; So the stranger set off on the road resembling a lost little lamb in his nature; completely lost, and vulnerable, but oblivious without a care in the world. 
It wasn't until midday that the oblivious stranger ran into trouble, a trio of bandits stopped him on the road the told him it was a toll road, and demanded he "pay the toll"; A classic shakedown to which the stranger could only ask "What's a toll" The bandits looked confused for a  second. The stranger watched them curiously, as the bandit's fumbled about  before demanding the stranger pay them pen silver pieces or be killed. "Pieces of what?" The stranger asked, causing the bandits even more confusion. Eventually the bandits decided it would be easier to just kill him, and loot his corpse. As the leader pointed his staff at him the stranger's reflexes took over. He stepped forward grabbing the leader's arm, and breaking it at the elbow. As the leader dropped his staff the stranger caught it, and with swift strikes rendered the others unconscious before they could react. The oblivious stranger then apologized to the unconscious people dropped the staff, and continued on his way.

Cerise was skipping on ahead of her little posse, absently doing cartwheels and climbing on virtually everything. The sight of a mugging came into view, and her little kind heart made her stop what she was doing and sprint up to the poor man to try and help. Of course, when said man seemed to be fine on his own, she slowed her pace just before she reached him. She stared at the unconscious bodies, gaze immediately searching for proof that they were still alive. They may have been dicks, but she didn't wish them dead. "Hey, sir are you okay?" She asked the stranger who had continued down the road like nothing had happened.

They were all still alive as the stranger had not been trying to kill them "Oh me, i'm fine" the stranger turned to look at her surprised by the sudden question, he then asked "How are you?" in order to be polite.

Cerise gave him a bemused look. "I'm not the one who was almost mugged."

"Mug? like with ale? is there ale around here? I am a bit thirsty I could go for a mug." Though unfamiliar with the expression the stranger used logic to try to deduce its meaning, obviously it led him astray, but there was obviously some thought behind it

"Uh, no, sweetie," She said, frowning. "I meant like robbed... But we do have some supplies if you need them?" She asked, motioning behind her at her squad.

"Robbed? i thought they were toll collectors?" The stranger seems completely oblivious to all that just happened. Valstad glances at the other wizard seeming slightly amused by this guy.

"Oh, honey," She groaned. Cerise was beginning to look like the least naive, well traveled, wisest person ever compared to him.

Ephraim just smirks at the conversation, seeing the irony very clearly.

The stranger just continued to look oblivious

Cerise, feeling so very sorry for this poor man and his naivety, felt the need to explain to him that no, they were not toll collectors, and that he shouldn't trust people like that, and basically mothered him because bless his wee innocent soul.

"oh well thank you for the advice, If I may ask.... where am i?" The stranger inquired

Cerise gave him such a look of pure pity, and a touch of condescending, before telling him roughly where they were. She wasn't exactly sure herself, but she knew roughly.

"Kingdom of owls what's that?" He ended up asking, very curious

Cerise blinked. Once, twice. She buried her head in her hands. She raised her head once more to look at this disaster of a human being. She turned to the other two for help. She looked back at the man. She just ended up giving him a hug.

"Uh are you okay?" The stranger asked the odd young lady who was now hugging him

Valstad was clearly trying not to laugh

Cerise just shushed him.

The stranger awkwardly stood there

She sighed and released him, before explaining his question. And any related potential questions.

Ephraim seems more confused by Val smiling at something than this stranger's lack of knowledge "Are....are you smiling?"

Valstad ignored him , and asked the stranger "So who are you, you don't seem to be from around here?"

"I don't know... I guess not" The stranger said rubbing the back of his head

Ephraim makes a mental note to remind Val never to smile again.

Cerise was looking at him as if he were a little lost puppy.

Ephraim decides he should start this now "Hey Val....never smile again"
