Basilisk Company

It is the 301st year of the age of steel. Two thousand years since the fall of Arandil, since the fall of the greatest empire the world had ever seen. Torn apart by civil war and later by the Bleakening. An event that left the Arandil heartland a smoking wasteland of obsidian glass now roamed by the last of the trueborn Arandii, nomads who have forgotten their roots as the people who almost conquered the continent. In the south new empires clash over the fertile plains and great jungles. The Fey empire of Laranath and it's powerful sorcerer queen warring with the Dragonlords of Falgram with their wyrms and unending legions. Both by directly and by proxy, using their puppets amongst the city states of the Disputed lands to further their own goals. In the north men war over grudges long festered. Barrow Kings and Stormblood Clans coming down from their frigid and barren lands to make war on the bastard descendants of Arandil, the Marcher Kings with their knights and castles. On the lip of the godscar the great fortress city of Blackhaven still stands, defiant against the Arandii hordes from their wastes.
Amidst it all men and women of hundreds of sellsword companies fight and die, for gold for honor or simply for the love of battle. But none rises more famous than the Basilisk company of Blackhaven. Made up of men and women from across the continent. Of all races and backgrounds. Four thousand swords dedicated only to each other. Even kings fear the basilisk banner when it comes waving outside their walls. The company asks for absolute loyalty from its members, but in return all crimes are forgiven once obe enters they're ranks. For now they March at the call of the Barrow King of Norhelm, to war against the Marcher kingdom of Redvale. But the basilisk is ever fickle.

So essentially this will be an RP similar to one me Lord Regent and birdie did a long time ago. We'd play as a small band of members of a larger mercenary company.

Magic is generally powerful but not world ending. The main exception to that is high magic. A form of magic only about 1% of all mages can access. That is immensely powerful.

Background Hexor, or Hex as he calls hims.elf is an island born Highmage. Hex is the second born prince of a sett of islands in the sea to the west of Arandil trained in magic, and other less cool stuff in some of the finest academies in the world today, he came to Arandil about two years ago After a  failed attempt to murder his brother, and seize the throne, he could have pulled it off had his father not discovered the plot, and engaged him in magical combat from which he barely escaped alive. Eventually he ended up a mercenary. Due to his high magic he advanced to corporal rather quickly.

Background: A farmers brat from the Barrowlands. Oldest of four sons but with two older sisters. He ran away from home after he found his brother in law beating his sister and killed the man with a woodcutting ax, though the act left him with a jagged scar across the cheek from the other man's Dirk. He joined the basilisk company rather than be hung for a kinslayer and murderer. There he was armed and thrust under Hex's command

Background: Kine is a simple hunter from the north, she was part of a small town militia, and is used to fending off goblin, and kobold raids. She joined the company for adventure, and coin, she's been in some skirmishes, but not a real battle

What sort of limitations are put in characters that are not human? Powers and such?

If i recall correctly very few, Erin was human high mage in the inspiration to this rp who ripped through an  undead army with a super tornado, and killed a lich who fought off the avatar of death and split the continent in half so i assume fighting OP isn't high on the list so long as they are within reason they should be ok

Other characters included an immortal dragon man, a sorta undead ninja and a half werewolf berserker. It was a strange group

Background: Born from a human mother and a demon father, how this came to be was that the demon had raped his mother allowing him to be born. He was looked down upon by the other people living in the village since he was a "half-breed abomination" according to them, his mother always looked sad and depressed so he left the place when he was 13-years old. He traveled here and for years until he got interested in the Basilisk Company, sounded like a place he belongs and would not be looked down at so he joined up.
Equipment: Steel armor, a round shield, a sturdy spear.

Skills: She can take any form at will, but generally remains as an extremely beautiful woman. She is charming, and will use the sharpness of her tongue before she would resort to a blade. However, she is skilled with a sword, though not overly so; she is still practicing.
Personality: She is very flirtatious with everything that moves, however her eyes hold intelligence. Many people assume that, because she appears very beautiful, she is helpless in combat; she enjoys proving them wrong.
Appearance: It changes all the time; however, her true appearance, which she has never shown anyone, is rather average: almond shaped hazel eyes, round face, aquiline nose, all framed by ash brown hair. However, the reason she shows no one is due to the long jagged lines that had been carved deep into her skin, from forehead to lips. A scar through her left eye rendered her partially blind. Various other burns and callouses mark her hands and arms, from working with hot metal, which she of course covers up.
Background: Her father was a metal smith, who crafted high quality weapons and helped supply the war with their weapons. He had hoped for a son, who could inherit his life’s work once he is gone, but had to make do with a daughter. He was a skilled swordsman himself, and taught Natalia all he knew while she grew up, be it combat or weapon crafting. The army landed on their doorstep, however, when she was 18. They demanded all of the weapons they had, as well as their food. Her father refused to give them everything they owned, and so things got heated, and the older man was killed.
Natalia fought back, but the only thing she gained from doing so was the humiliation of being defeated, and a blade to her once rather pretty face. She joined the Basilisk Company in order to exact revenge.

Background: An orphaned half Arandii born on the streets of Blackhaven. He grew up stealing and working odd jobs until he reached the age of twelve. By then he led a band of child thieves surviving in the slums. But he was caught and turned over to the watch for stealing a loaf of bread. They gave him a choice, lose his hand or join the Basilisks, a choice he's never regretted. Though they still took a finger to remind him what happens to thieves. He's served eighteen years with the company eighteen years of bloodshed

After a week in the north he joined the Basilisk in order to feed himself and see the north

Appearance He's short obviously since he is a dwarf around 4 ft tall, but broad shouldered and  muscular, he looks around 30, and harsh in the face. He has black hair, and of course has a great beard.
Background Arnoth Is a great warrior from the Northern Dwarven kingdoms, he's famous for his fighting in the mountain Wars against the Goblins and ogres, and for slaying a great mountain Wyrm, after the mountain wars were over he left his people looking for more wars to fight, and joined the company.

Name: Vaeri Naevys

Skills: She is stealthy, adept with most weapons, intimidating, and a powerful illusionist.
Appearance: Her silver hair is mostly tied out of the way for practical reasons, her eyes are of a sharp steel grey, and she has a diamond face shape. An intricate tattoo climbs her high cheekbones, and her skin holds a dusting of tan.
Background: Her family came from a long line of powerful nobles, who were all naturally skilled at combat, but which was honed to a fine point all through their lives. Power runs through their bloodline, inherited by Vaeri herself. She found illusion magic the most fascinating, and so spent a great deal of her time practicing that discipline. Weapons training was a must in her family, and she was the most drawn to long range weapons, such as the bow and throwing knives. She was a commander in the fey army, before an incompetent, idiot of a noble's son forced her to lash him. This wasn't taken kindly to, however, and she was banished from the army. She joined the Basilisk Company instead, and quickly climbed its ranks.

Allyn crouches next to a campfire, trying to warm his hands against the chilly autumn winds sweeping the open fields of the northern marches around him. The company was three days out of Blackhaven, marching to help some petty Barrow King in a war against some Marcher Lord, and he'd just been told that he was a sergeant now, to be given command of a newly made and undermanned squad for a 'special task' On the other side of his fire sat two of his new men; a Barrowman, big and strong looking with clan markings scrawled up his bare arms, seemingly unaffected by the cold. Beside him was a dragonborn, one of the biggest that Allyn had ever seen, with smokey scales and a suit of fine looking plate. Nervous he glanced around, where the hells where the rest of his men? Captain had said they where even giving him an extra corporal to help with them but he couldn't find any of them

Corporal Hexor Kane, also known as Hex was an obvious choice for a squad member due to his exceptional  magical abilities. He was mostly  focuses on taking in the scenery as the wind blew through his hair sweeping it up in the breeze, he looked very relaxed, but those who had seen him in action knew in battle h was a cackling, borderline sadistic weapon of mass destruction on the field. With him he had brought a slightly nervous looking northern woman with a bow, and a particularly Stoic, and battle hardened Dwarf, who seemed much more focused, and less head in the clouds.

Ses walked to the scene, wearing his full steel armor and a full helmet that covered his face. He was carrying a round shield and a sturdy spear, he gave the others a single wave of his hand to greet them.
