The last wizard

Long ago in the land of Jerda the immortal races from beyond the human realm began a war to subjugate the human race. Gods and demons were always in competition for the souls and the minds of humankind, most not truly caring for the well being or the lives of their human subjects although they did bestow power and knowledge basic knowledge of magic to their cults and followers (they still do). Humanity continued to get shafted by the immortal races until a benevolent spirit born of the mortal realm appeared and trained a great order of spell casters known as wizards, to do justice upon the careless and selfish immortals and their followers, after centuries of war the wizards prevailed and brought about a golden age of humanity. for two hundred years humanity prospered under the guidance of the wizards. Although they too were human their power in the arcane granted them a much longer life.. eventually though from the ashes of the old gods came new ones .their appearance took the wizards off guard and their followers killed all but one of the wizards. Now a century later with the world cuaght in another war of the gods the last wizard emerges from hiding to train a new order of wizards and fight back for humanity


The monks of Thun- these are the warriors and priests of the goddess Thun, they are incredible martial artists extraordinarily disciplined. And are trained in the magic arts.of blasting raw force at opponents this. They are made if both male and female and control a mountainous rural region in the east. Thun is a quiet and disciplined but violent goddess

The illusionists of tach- this order of incredibly dangerous spell casters and priests who control a set of tropical islands with luxurious cities filled with extreme wealth and decadence for its citizen, built on the back of slavery. All of the illusionists of Tach are female, while most can only bend light into illusions some more magically powerful can blasts opponents with burning bolts of light and weild weapons they create from shadow. Tach is a devious and manipulative goddess who will do anything to increase her standing

The knights of kain- Followers of an arch demon known as kain they are blood crazed warriors imbued with the blood of the demon. This often gives them a demonic appearance as well as physical power and combat prowess well beyond that of any of the other religions followers sometimes they are accompanied by demons who wield powerful dark magic. Kain is a bloody, and ruthless demon who seeks only to spread chaos and destruction. All of his knights are male. Kain controls most of the western lands most of it now being a wasteland

The reavers of kain- female versions of the knights of kain

The witches of kain- cain also has an organization of female priestesses capable of ruthlessly wielding the powers of fire and blood and blone magic

The wizards of kain- like the above but they have ice magic and necromancy

Wizards- wizards are by far the most powerful humans in existence, they can be male or female and come in all personality types. They are more than just spell casters they are the peak of human achievement in magic and combat. They are soldiers fighting for independence from the immortals and They study all types of magic and must come to outmatch other spell casters in all fields of magic. For those who are accepted as apprentices the road is long and difficult, if they succeed in walking the path they will gain the unnaturally long life lasting centuries, and the ability to wield lightning a power once thought could only be wielded by gods. Though at the moment there is only one left


There are also plenty of independent spell casters out there Ussually either traveling hedge mages or secret dabbling societies of illusionists or necromancers. They are no wizards and Ussually merely dabble, lacking the resources to achieve mastery of any magic


Other magics wizards and various other magic users and organizations may be capable of are: Necromancy, earth magic, command over blood and bone, healing magic, water magic, transmutation, wind magic, beast talking, simple energy bolts

Appearance: Arken has the appearance of a tall gruff looking man, with peircing amethyst eyes, he is well muscled, and obviously a northman from his pale skin and formidable stature. Most would guess him in his early to mid thirties with patches of grey just begining to make their mark an his short dark hair and beard. He wears a black long coat almost everywhere he goes hanging open with a white shirt underneath and a pair of dark pants. He carries his wizards quarter staff across his back and always caries with him a leather bound book sporting the seal of the wizard order. It is the last spell book of his order
Background: Not a lot is known about his personal life or his standing within the wizard order before its collapse. What is known is that he like all wizards is a legendary soldier, a true master of both magic and the martial arts. When the wizard order was surprise attacked by the new gods and their servants he somehow escaped and has been on the run ever since moving from town to town never staying in one place long enough for the armies of the immortals to track him down. As he nears the end of his lifespan it is clear that to continue running would doom humanity to an eternity of serving the immortals, or even extinction. He realizes he must take it upon himself to train a new generation of wizards

Background: Alonne was a thief and street rat in the capital city of tach who couldn't resist a chance to steal a spell book from one of the illusionist's spell books three years ago, he fled the city with his prize and after three years wandering he has become quite proficient with illusions and light bending, often using them so he can steel enough to get by... And a little extra.
Equipment: Short blade, ordinary travelers clothes and a cloak
Skills/magical abilities: sneaking, lock picking, illusion magic, can cast scorching bolts of light

Name: Dione Iliarri
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Appearance: Her skin holds a warm brown tone, and her eyes are large and a rich brown, with the brightness of youth and innocence. However, due to her blood, her eyes become red when she is extremely angry. Her hair is tied up in many, many fine braids, each one a deep blue tone… due to a magic disaster. She has full lips, and her nose is somewhat wide, and she has a pear body type (thin upper body, larger hips and thighs).
Personality: She is gentle and kind, somewhat perky, and isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty. She is quite open and is always up for a challenge, and quite forgiving. She is somewhat naïve, but passionate about what she believes in. She is very trustworthy; she will always keep a secret. She can be rude when she is around people she doesn’t like, or who have been mean to her, and is somewhat cynical. She is afraid of getting old and dying, as well as being abandoned and speaking in public. It takes much to make her angry, but when she is, she cannot control it.
Background: Her mother was a member of the Witches of Kain, who taught her all she knows in magic. However, Dione didn’t wish to be part of such a dangerous race of demons, and ran away. She believed no one would accept her due to her blood line other than the followers of Kain, but that was until she met Arken.
Skills/magical abilities: Blood, fire and bone magic, and is quite skilled in archery.
Equipment: A bow and quiver of 12 arrows. She also dons a crimson cloak she carries around everywhere.

Arken walks into the inn of a small village, his straw hat pulled down to cover his face although he makes no attempt to cover or hide the staff in his hand, or the book attached to his coad, or the longsword hanging in its sheath at his hip, as he walks over to the counter of the local in and asked for a room. His clairvoyance had been vague but it had certainly told him of a spell caster with adequate potential in the area. It made sense when he thought about it, the village was small and seemed  quite isolated from the god war, it was a good place for someone who was looking to lay low for a bit, not attracting the attention of any authorities

Dione glanced up at the sound of the inn door opening. She was sat in the very corner of the tavern, where the light couldn't reach as well, her crimson cloak casting a deep shadow over her face. She had been staying in the inn for the past week as she had no where else to turn, and had almost used up all the coins she had brought with her - well, stolen. This new comer's staff peeked her interest, and she gazed at him, her pulse increasing, a nearby candle casting a golden light on her bright eyes. He didn't appear to be a member of the Kain, but she wasn't in the mood to make him go away if he was, so she stood and weaved her way towards the door, hoping she got out before he noticed.

As she weaved her way towards the door the straw hat wearing wizard stuck out a hand to stop her, he sensed great magical pottential in this girl "Care to have a seat miss i believe i need to speak with you" he said rather politely

She froze, a barely audible gasp escaping her lips as he placed his hand in her way. I'm screwed. She turned to him, plastering what she hoped was a cheerful smile on her face. "I'm sorry, I think you have me mixed up with someone else," She attempted to slip past him, returning her gaze to the door. "If you'll excuse me, I really must be going..."

"Nope i have no clue who you are, but i know you have power, I sense it, have a seat" he motioned to the symbol n the book he carried, the symbol of a wizard, not some cheep kain knock off, the real deal.

Her eyes flicked to the symbol on his book, and she nibbled on her lip. "Very well," She sighed in defeat, plopping down on the nearest chair and kicking her feet up on the table. The symbol wasn't of Kain make; none of his things were. Hopefull he wasn't part of the group. She had no idea what would happen to her if she was caught after she had ran away with a bag of gold without a word to anyone. "What is it you wanted to talk about?"

The wizard looked her up and down making a mental note of her manner and posture, to her he seemed to be looking into her very soul "I'm not here on behalf of any god" He finally spoke as he saw she was quite nervous "Look I'll be straight with you , i'm a wizard, not one of those inept fools kain has working for him, who stole our name, i'm a god slayer. As for what i want, I'm not about to sugar coat it , I want to make you into a killer and a soldier." Arken said plainly "the gods will tear our world apart if they are allowed to go unchecked someone needs to step up to plate and I can't do it alone. I don't know who you are or where your from but i was guided here to begin my search for apprentices. You try to hide it, but you're being hunted, and you're afraid"

Dione shuddered; she really didn't like the way he was looking at her. His offers were tempting: either go with him or watch the world burn. What a choice. She leaned forward, removing her boots from the table. "I will only consider this, if you promise to not let Kain or his puppets find me." His speech about god killing meant that the arch demon himself may find her; but she hoped not. Distancing herself from them meant she would never see her mother again, but she was fine with that. She didn't know who her father was, she was just aware he wasn't part of the Kain; this much was obvious from her lack of demony s*** and how weak she was compared to the other witches. Still, she had come to terms with the fact she is now labeling herself as an orphan.

"The archdemon  is just a god with another label" Arken said to her simply and continued in a rather calm voice "They will come for us like many others, and i will kill them, and teach you how to kill them until your apprenticeship is complete, and then you will come  for Kain, and you will kill him with your fellow apprentices"

She nibbled her lip, shuddering at the thought of going up against a god. She stood suddenly, her hands on the table. "Sorry, old man, you have got the wrong girl. There is no chance I am powerful enough to take down a bloody god." With that, she spun on her heal, tripped over her chair, righted herself and tried to hold the rest of her remaining dignity together on the trek to the door.

"If you follow me, you will become powerful enough, and never fear anyone again" The wizard said to her calmly as she walked away

Background: She was born a very long time ago and had been a nomad for most of her life so far. She didn't learn much lessons from her parents before they were killed, but kept living nonetheless.
Skills/magical abilities: Can shape-shift, can confuse enemies, has incredible speed and nimbleness.
Equipment: None unless you count a small dagger and a pocketknife.

Unknowingly to them at the moment, a small furry creature called Yomela had hopped into the roof in cat form and had stepped on a part of the roof that wasn't stable enough to handle her weight. Loud cracks can be heard overhead by them before the roof gave in and Yomela plummeted right onto Dione's face, her claws out and clamping onto her face.

Her cries of both shock and pain echoed around the inn, and she stepped back, tripping over something and falling on her back. She clutched at the strange creature, it's nails digging into and scratching her face. "What the -!"

Yomela jumped off her and backed into a corner, her fur fluffed up along her spine, and her tail all the way puffed up as neither of them had expected the roof to give in to her weight in the first place. She stood there in the corner, eyes wide, fur fluffed, back arched, and ears back.

Arken chuckled at the display and levitated yomela in the air before getting up and walking over "Oh well look at you a little shapeshifter" he extended a hand and she felt a wave of calm go over her

"What the hell!" She screeched, clutching her bleeding face. "Where did that come from?!" There was no way Dione would be able to do anything, even cease the bleeding in her hysterical state; she required a lot of concentration to do any sort of magic. This further illustrates the point that she will not be able to assist the strange wizard with his crazy notions of saving the world.

Yomela scoffed at his words. "I'm only little when I want to be, mister!" she said before sh glanced towards the ground. "Can you put me down?" she asked him.
