The spark to ignite the flame

Brittany had stormed off of her home and walked down the abandoned street, she just had had quite a bad argument with her father and she could feel herrself burn in rage and fury. She needed to blow off some steam or she would explode, last time she set on fire an entire building and it would be better if she didn't repeat the deed. She would pull out a cigarette and lifted her left hand, a bit of fire bursting from it and lighting the smoke which she took to her mouth.

"Spare some change?" Croaked a raspy voice, a homeless man sitting alone against one of the many decrepit buildings of ghost town; sitting just within the light of what seemed to be the only lamp post on the entire street; or rather the only functioning one. The man was old, older than most homeless people tend to get in the middle of a desert, his white hair and beard had grown to unkempt and unclean proportions, and his wrinkled skin skin was not unlike leather.

Brittany didn't have much, so she just growled and kept walking, not wanting to be bothered at that moment, she didn't want to end up burning someone alive, as of now she had achieved not to incinerate anybody, but she didt want to tempt destiny.

As she walked by the man watched her walk into the distance without saying a word, though f she looked back she could swear she saw just a hint of a rotten toothed smile on his face. Still he made no move to follow her or say anything, and soon the silence and darkness of the night in ghost town was all encompassing again with only one or two working street lamps every few blocks.

Brittany wouldnt even care, as she kept walking through the darkness with the light of her cigarette being the only thing that lightened her suroundings, luckly it was enough light for her to reach the next working street lamp without stumbling against anything.

As she walked down the mostly dark street she began to hear a strange slurping sound in the otherwise quiet streets, it was distant, and periodic at first, but as she kept walking it began to get closer and more frequent. Accompanying it was the smell of rot strong enough to almost blind her senses.

Brittany would cough, sickened, and look around with anger. That smell made her want to puke, and whatever created it had to be even worse. But she couldn't see much in the dark. She lifted a hand and a bit of fire came out as she tried to see around her

The fire illuminated the empty street, there was empty street to her right, empty street to her left, empty street in front of her and empty street behind her. For several moments the sound vanished though the smell had not, then another slurp came from above her head.

Brittany would jump backwards as she looked upwards, ready to lash out at whatever made that sickening noise

When she looked up she saw it crouching on the lamp post above her, at least a head taller than a man if not two. Its skin was tattered and discolored, and in patches she could see bone or rotting flesh beneath. Its body looked almost human, but with the proportions of its arms extended to look more like a werewolf through obviously unnatural means, as evidenced by the wires and stitching in and out of its flesh. The head of course was canine in nature, but unlike with a werewolf looked as if it did not belong on the body, and sported a mouth full of long metal fangs.

"WHAT THE..." Brittany would throw herself backwards away from that thing in inhuman speed, panicked, trying to cast fire, but...nothing came, her fire had fizzled out with her fear

Suddenly the creature gave big grin, exposing the lines of metal wire running through the corners of its mouth holding its face together. It stood still for just a moment as the flame fizzled out, then darted toward the little hellhound with speed equal to her own and metallic claws at the ready.

Brittany would try dodging to a side, but she wasn't fast enough, the creatures claws managing to cut several lines of red pain in her arm, making the hellhound roar in pain and rage.

A block or so away, a brown-haired woman of average height stood at attention as the coppery smell of blood hit her nose, followed by a faint yell of pain. Jesus H Christ, could this city go a die without someone getting attacked by some kind of monster?

The creature did not stop with a single slash, but tried to dig another claw into her knee to cripple her. Whatever it wanted, it wanted her alive or it would have gone for the throat.

Brittany would move the leg in time, once more feeling the pain as her skin was cut, bot no crippling damage. She roared again in a much more canine hate as she felt her rage erupt. Fire blasted out of under her skin as she transformed, the smell of brimstone and burning flesh and hair filling the air as her body transformed into a beast half human half hellhound, fire coming out of her mandibles as she tried to slash the creature's chest with her now clawed hands enveloped in fire.

The creature hardly seemed to notice the gaping hole in its chest, and a strangely juicy, foul smelling, and rotting interior where blood was replaced with a murky watery substance prevented it from catching any sort of fire. What it did do was latch onto her shoulder with a strangely powerful jaws and metalic teeth, before shaking her like a ragdoll and throwing her into a decrepit brick building.

Brittany slowly got up, totally on fire as she roared, the temperature so high it melted the bricks around her. It was impressive, but it was really tiring to keep that energy levels, she would be exhausted in not much time. But the teenager was pissed, not caring about that. She charged again, swinging at the thing's neck with a roar.

The creature quickly ducked and leaped back, all it had to do now was wait for its prey to tire, and she would be at its mercy. As far as it was concerned it had already won, its wiry mouth grinned broadly.

Brittany started to recklessly attack the creature, chasing it to slash it with her claws.

The monster's gloating was suddenly interrupted by a crack of pain in the back of its skull as the leather soles of Peyton's combat boots smashed into the back of the creature's head.

Well the boot smashing into the back of its head certainly ruined the whole dodging and tiring her out strategy, as the malformed creature fell forward directly into the Hellhound's slashing and shredding claws.

Brittany started to bite, claw and burn that creature with all her rage, trying to catch it at its neck to cause as much damage as possible.

Peyton took a step back, and watched to see if the girl could handle the situation on her own, no reason getting roughed up if she ain't have to right?

An arm was torn from the creature first, and many a piece of skin was seared off by the Hellhound's flame; she had the first strike and she had made good use of it. Nonetheless whatever this creature was it was no pushover. The beast slammed its other claws straight into her gut, essentially impaling the hellhound, lifting her up with absurd strength, and throwing her into a lamp post hard enough to dent it. After that the now one armed creature turned to face Peyton, ignoring its now incapacitated prey for the moment. Upon getting a good look at the mutilated, deformed and stitched together beast with the head of a dog Peyton had a good idea of what it was. The proportions of its body, the shape of its metal teeth and claws, it looked what, what you'd get if you tried to make a werewolf out of human corpses, a dog's head, and surgery.
