This land of Mystria is a beautiful one, blessed with all the boons and wonders of the New World, jungles that chatter with life. Verdant orchards and gardens resplendent with blossoming fruit and vibrant flowers, and fed by bountiful rivers and lakes. Cared for by a steadfast honest people. On august plantations crops of tobacco, indigo, and sugar grow en masse, bringing wealth and prosperity. And from the might forests come steady streams of lumber and charcoal. Yet, this is why for the past three hundred years Mystria has not had a single taste of freedom. For across the sea, the Royal Council of Estalios sits, growing rich and fat off of our toil and our lands. They drain the farms for all they're worth, they use its sons in their wars. They wish to keep the free people of this land as subjects, as slaves! Across the sea in their gilded palaces, they plot carefully to keep us under their dominion. They strip down our militias and keep them ill-equipped, they burden us with more and more taxes and funnel our wealth to their foul peninsula.

But for no longer! The empire is bogged down in a foreign war across the sea, and as such is distracted! Now is the time for Mystria to break free! Every loyal son and daughter of this land must grab what weapon they can and drive their oppressors to the sea once and for all! Why toil and bow to foreign-born kings? Why fill their pockets with our wealth? Why be a subject, when you can be free? In our meeting halls and squares, our best minds and speakers rally the people to this noble cause!  They write essay after essay espousing the virtues of independence and the merits of revolution. They lay the groundwork for the nation that we shall create! And in the field, our militias gather up arms, ammunition, and men for the coming storm. Yet what, I ask, will you do to help our young fair nation? Will you carve your name into the history books and help us forge a new nation? History has its eyes on you.

Age of Revolution is a Fantasy Role Play set in the world of Terra Magna, a world often analogous to ours but with key differences such as Magic, Strange non-human races, and other such fantasy elements. The time is one roughly analogous to the Napoleonic War/ Age of revolutions, the year is 1811 A.C, And  Mystria is a colonial possession of the Estalian Crown in the southern New World. Currently, Ergmir, the home continent of Estalios is in the midst of a massive war between a coalition of Human Kingdoms called the 'League of Caroline' and an Elven invasion force from another world, and despite how cool that sounds it's not what we're focusing on. Instead we will be playing as revolutionaries in Mystria eager to use the costly Ergmirian war and the distraction it puts on the crown to launch their revolution and free their nation of the tyrannical influence of the Peninsulares Estalians. Here I will layout a small comprehensive timeline to allow you to get a bit of a grasp on the situation.

1511 A.C : The first Estalian settlements are established in the land of Mystria by outcasts and peasants from the Homeland, and find quite the challenge in surviving the lands dangerous wildlife, seemingly fickle soil, and hostile natives.

1561 A.C: As the number of settlements grows higher and higher and the land slowly is tamed Mystria is established as an official colony of the Estalian crown and though many Mystrian-born settlers are upset, the swift arrival fo the Estalian military shuts them up.

1614 A.C: The last of the 'uncivilized' indigenous kingdoms in the region are subjugated by settler militias, and their people are brought in as serfs to the Mistrian nobility.

1644 A.C: The city of Sonora, which would become the cultural capital of all Mystria is founded by Alexandro D'al Sonora.

1656 A.C: Large deposits of silver, and platinum and are found in the Mystrian northwestern highlands and Estalia begins to take much more executive interest in Mystria. They make active (if subtle attempts) to keep the settlers disorganized and passive towards the orders of the crown.

1726-1756: The Knife-Ear Debacle Begins as strange creatures calling themselves elves begin to appear in the woods and forests central Ergmir. Short, knife eared humanoids with angular, appealing features, lean muscular builds, and solid black eyes. Inhabitants of another realm, they claim to be refugees from a terrible war in another plane. The immediate response from the rural humans they encounter is confusion, followed by violence against these newcomers. Over the next few years, several small-scale skirmishes and massacres take place between humans and elves, eventually culminating in an attack on a burgeoning elven settlement.  Hundreds of elves are killed, and more are taken into slavery. Fearing for their safety the otherworldly refugees realize they cannot co-exist with humans and flee to the thick forests of the region. Most historians date this as the origin point for the later human elvish wars.

1800 A.C: Tensions continue to simmer between the established Mannish kingdoms and the newcomer elves. Worsened by the fact that seemingly more and more elves are appearing.

1805 A.C: The seeds of the revolution are laid as tensions grow between Mystria and the Crown when thousands of pounds of Mystrian gold are taken to help carry Estalios through a self-caused economic collapse.

1807 A.C: The Takara War begins. In a lightning-fast offensive thousands of elvish warriors, still holding a grudge from the violence inflicted on them by the humans of the region, stream out of the thick black forests and engage in a lightning campaign. They bring with them strange magics and enchanted weapons. Faced with such a skilled and fervent enemy wielding weaponry they've never seen before, the small, disparate human princedoms of the region don't know how to react. They'd never considered the elves a true threat before, having been ignorant of their numbers. The elves, who name themselves Takarans, quickly establish their control of that region. Enforcing a regime of elvish rule over the majority human provinces, and keeping control through the judicious application of force. Appalled by these events, the nations of Ergmir hold a conference and decide that no inhuman heathen kingdom can be allowed to exist in their midst. Cullings of elvish populations in other nations begin immediately, and war is declared.

1811 A.C: In a disastrous and very publicized battle against the Takarans hundreds of Mistrian born troops were slaughtered by Takaran ambushes due to the tactical blunder of an Estalian commander. This waste of young lives, in a foreign war no less, is the straw that snaps the camels back. Now talk of independence, of revolution, is spoken openly in the street, and the influential and driven rally together to forge a new nation. Ten of the most prominent nobles in all of Mystria met in the capitol building at Sonora and declared that from here of Mystria was to become an independent nation! These 'Son's of the Revolution' included Cassius Sonora of the Sonora family, Alexandro Delobo, Horatio Montblanc, and a few notable others.

A Note on the Others:

Gnomes: Insular, Industrious, Diminutive. These are the three words that could best be used to describe the gnomes. Like the elves, they are migrants from another world who arrived after a shift in the world's magic fields. They are of small height, capping out at 4'10 and can sometimes be mistaken for children, with inquisitive eyes and hairy, dexterous fingers, and hairy ears. Due to old human superstitions, gnomes are seen as possessed by mania, the mad spirit of genius. This has led to them being pigeonholed into working in the sciences. And whilst they disdain the stereotypes, there are worst ones to have, right?

Elves: The new kids on the block, foreigners from a foreign realm, who began to appear out of thin air all over the world only a century ago, fleeing a great terror. Their sudden appearance and strange, enigmatic tendencies have made humans wary of them. Not to mention the fact that quite a few of them have taken up raiding and forest banditry to make ends meet. Due to the takaran wars, Ergmirian humans are likely to hold rather negative if not outright racist views on elves and those ideas often carry over to the colonies.
