World of Champions RP Background

Heroes are a strange thing , a curious concept indeed...logic tells us they don't exist , like fairies or unicorns or dragons...mere tales and stories , humans don't have such will or altruism within them. To lay down their lives out of selflessness , to choose others over them over and over and over. Humans are cowardly , selfish , driven to feats of good only out of ego or fealty or guilt. In everyone of them no matter how noble they may have seemed each has some great flaw that holds them down , Martin Luther King , though a man of god was a philanderer. Ghandi would be considered a sex offender in the modern world , and all the knights and samurai of old were little more than rich thugs in armor. The world is never simple enough , never pure enough to let real heroes exist. Or maybe...they just haven't come around yet.

Yet now that might change , with the blossoming of the meta gene. Planted in humanity 10'000 years ago by a being long forgotten to time , a gift , a safeguard for the fledgling race set to bloom when it seemed they would need it most. Hidden in a sliver of humanity just small enough to prevent endless chaos , and just large enough to change the world exactly 0.00000000001%. The Gift holds within it amazing powers and amazing burdens , curses hidden as blessings , blessings hidden in curses. Some use them to selfish devious ends , some just to survive...but others become something more . Something beyond their ancestors , beyond the tales and legends...some become heroes, will you?
