Just before they are hit with six consecutive explosive rounds, and given how their forces are all lined up in a narrow trench and no one but the closest looking for him would have much of an idea where that is coming from in all the explosions and confusion...

Bertholt is a rather heavy man , being a heavyweight boxer and all , and with a injured knee he can't help her lift him , so it takes a good while.

While reeve is getting away he curses seing the wounded soldier, and casts a spell to heal him that will work from the bottom out, thus should push the knife and bullet out... of course this leads to Reeve being passed out, invissible in no mans's land
