When atomic fire consumed the earth, those who survived did so in great, underground vaults. When they opened, their inhabitants set out across ruins of the old world to build new societies, establish new villages, forming tribes.

As decades passed, what had been the American southwest united beneath the flag of the New California Republic, dedicated to old-world values of democracy and the rule of law. As the Republic grew, so did its needs. Scouts spread east, seeking territory and wealth, in the dry and merciless expanse of the Mojave Desert. They returned with tales of a city untouched by the warheads that had scorched the rest of the world, and a great wall spanning the Colorado River.

The NCR mobilized its army and sent it east to occupy the Hoover Dam, and restore it to working condition. But across the Colorado, another society had arisen under a different flag. A vast army of slaves, forged from the conquest of 86 tribes: Caesar's Legion.

Four years have passed since the Republic held the Dam - just barely - against the Legion's onslaught. The Legion did not retreat. Across the river, it gathers strength. Campfires burned, training drums beat.

Through it all, the New Vegas Strip has stayed open for business under the control of its mysterious overseer, Mr. House, and his army of rehabilitated Tribals and police robots.

Odysseus strolled down the road north on I-15 towards the strip and vegas he'd be coming up on this little town called "Good Springs" soon enough. A nice little town with good folk, a tad bit anti NCR, but not at all pro legion it was just a little independent town that wanted to remain such he had passed through it on his way to various deployments a couple times and he knew he could stop there and get a drink they appreciated good caps. It'd be nice to get out of the son.

L.S makes his way along the same road , his eyes locked on Odysseus as he makes his way past him.

Odysseus does not walk by,but stayed back a bit he didn't turn his back on people wandering the mojave, he kept his rifle in hand but didn't make a move

L.S keeps his eyes locked on him "Just passing by NCR"

"Don't be so formal i'm on leave" The soldier said cheerfully seeing no reason to be hostile but that vest looked like it was looted off a powder ganger or looted by a powder ganger off an NCR prison guard, if the latter the guy must have committed some serious crimes to get in a chain gang, best to be chill either way "On my way to the new vegas strip going to gamble, drink, have a good time. What brings you up this road?"

"Just trying to escape my past" He says grimly before giving a little chuckle "Nah I'm just playing , I dunno man ,just going where the wasteland takes me"

"So that looks like riot armor, you a powder ganger?" He wondered, he had been perceptive enough to notice the vest and the man's first response "I don't really care much if you are so long as you don't start chucking dynamite at random civilians and soldiers i'm just trying to get to the strip in one piece I ain't doing my job while i'm on leave."

"Not anymore no ,own a small ranch now , trying to make a new start" He explains.

"That's pretty cool" he said and wondered "what takes you up I-15 to New Vegas then, want to find a business to sell your food to?" he asked knowing that a lot of ranchers sold food directly to the casinos and businesses of new vegas

"Hyep , was gonna see if I could buy any security robots, hard to sleep when raiders are stealing all your carrots" He replies.

"I'm actually pretty good with robotics, if you find one I can help you get it set up" Odysseus casually offered, he didn't know this guy, but he seemed the decent sort and good springs could be seen through the desert on the horizon "Come on let's get a drink on me, I just got my bonus" He offered, may as well make friends if they were headed to the same place and he was sure after traveling through the mojave desert this guy could use a cold drink and a sit in doors as much as him, even if the drink turned out to be lightly irradiated water

L.S looks up at the desert sun "Yeah sounds good "

The town of good springs was not a large one, it had maybe five major buildings in working order and maybe ten people set up in it, most of them ranchers. The saloon was the first building in on the road to town followed by a trader right next door. The soldier headed for the saloon

L.S follows "I can buy my own drink y'know , no need to waste"

"No worries mate these caps were getting a little heavy anyway" He said, he had been saving up for this to the tune of 3000 caps. The saloon was not to busy as most of the patrons were ranchers out doing their thing, but the bartender, a middle aged woman was there, and so was what looked like a powder ganger judging by the blue prisoner jacket and guards armor. He was dark skinned,pretty tough looking, and had his hand on a revolver in its hip holster and seemed to be issuing threats to the defiant bartender whose arm were crossed and who was looking thoroughly unintimidated "I'm through playing nice, if you don't hand Ringo over to us, i'm coming back with my friends, we're gonna kill all you fuckers and burn this place to the ground. The powder ganger was facing the other direction and had not seen them yet, but Odysseus pt a hand on his revolver

L.S just makes his way over to the ganger and puts a hand on his shoulder "Chuck what the hell are you doing out here?"

"It's Joe" the man said glancing at his former comrade "They've got a man we're after, we ambushed a caravan, bur one of em named ringo killed three of my boys and escaped, i'm here with a little group for blood and if they don't hand him over it'll be theres"

"Look John ,leave the lady alone you already took any of the town's incoming profits with the caravan , why cause any problems?" He asks , trying to appeal to John's reason.

"You've gone soft boy." Joe said with a scowl "they took in someone who killed some of our own, they're lucky i gave them a chance to make good"

L.S smirks "I didn't go soft Jack , I just came to my senses , now your clogging up the line and I'm trying to get a drink , so I suggest you get to stepping lest you I have to educate your ass on how 'soft' I've apparently become" L.S says simply .

"We'll see how big you're talking when I come back here with the rest of my boys." Joe said and turned to leave, his boys were a band of 8 now apparently 5 powder gangers who liked to pick on lightly armored caravans and soft targets like this town
