However the Laith elites waste no time and since the vikingr walls are broken the charge cutting down the distracted as they slam into the raiders with fury . However it seems as though defeat is imminent , if only there was something that could completely break the raiders and set them to flight.

Down the road their came a man, though admittedly he looked more like a pretty young lass who was lacking in the breasts department which his long brown hair and slender figure really didn't help with. He wore the robes of a wizard that were black blue and carried a simple wooden staff that bore intricate carvings. The sounds of battle had drawn Aza to the area, he ussually didn't work for free, but he made exceptions for the vikings as they were a threat to everyone. It was raining heavily... that would make the spell he was preparing difficult, but he'd needed to pull it off regardless. He approached the area from behind the lines of the lord and his warriors with calm written on his face preparing a mighty spell. He focused on the raiders specifically their front line and new shield wall that was forming, and with a wave of his hand a great wall of flame, so intense that the rain did little to tame it erupted from beneath the vikings attempting to form the shield wall incinerating them in but a second or two. Aza fell forward to a kneeling position behind the lord's lines for a moment panting in exertion, but the vikings did not see this as he had approached rather discretely.

Both forces recoil from the sudden bursts of flame , looks of terror overtaking them as they watch the men burn , screaming and running in the fire as flesh melts and sticks to bone . The Vikings break , fleeing from the village and out into the valley below as quick as possible . They will no doubt go home and tell their Jarls of this for one of the men burnt was the leader of their war party. His body stuck in a kneeling pose , jaw hanging on by strips of charred muscle , the only remainder of him his well crafted sword.

The laithmen look in shock as their enemies flee, dead silence overtaking the town as they look at the pile of burnt foes. Then slowly the men begin to cheer ,the jubilation and relief spreading from one man to the other until eventually they're all singing a victorious hymn. For the end had been near only moments afore.

If any of them turned around they would see the rather pretty wizard kneeling trying to focus and bring his breathing back to normal, it did not take a witch doctor consulting with the stars and the heavens to figure out who was responsible for this here.

Tenedor meanwhile could not ride a horse so he had had to jog back, jogs through the mud were most annoying but looking at all the trampled and butchered horsemen it was pretty clear he was.Then his face turned pale when he saw it laying there in the mud, the sight of it made him sick, and filled him with dread, he staggered towards it as a man drunk with despair and fell to his knees. Taking it to cradle in his arms he felt distraught, it was.... his lute, and it had be partially crushed by one one of the horses

Uilieam lets out a relieced laugh as he turns to look at the kneeling sorcerer "Oi, this bee thy work eh lad?"

Aza brushed away a bit of hair that had fallen into his face and looked up at Uilieam "That it is my lord" he said seeing that this man was clearly the leaded and rising to his feet once again "I am Aza wizard of Avalon, and I am please to make your acquaintance"

"I guessed the wizard part already lad , but I am glad to meet ye as well " He replies with a grin.

Aza nodded at that, he had nothing to say about that but it was nice someone recognized him as a lad for once, even though he was a full adult but hey progress is progress. "Rather brave of you to meet these raiders in open battle, they have the strength of oxen it seems"

"Brave ye say? If me wife is to be believed , that is naught but another word for foolish " He replies with a laugh as he stares around the battlefield , the town streets splattered with bloody bodies, puddles of blood and mud covering the road. The Laithmen warband begin to get to packing up without order , grabbing the bodies of the fallen so they can be taken for burial and looting the dead Vikings for their superior arms ."Aye , they're strong , and possessed by a fierce barbarous wroth , but by ChuCuillain we could not have turned away on this day"

"Well I see you have work to attend to, as do I" Aza said, he supposed he should be taking his leave "dinner doesn't catch itself after all"

"It will tonight , ye aided us in our time of need , the least we could do is give ye a place to sleep , ale for the draught and food to champ" He replies firmly.

"Well I'll certainly thank you for that" Aza said gratefully "Truth be told I'm looking for steady work" he added "If you're looking for a wizard"

Uilieam raises a brow at that as he wipes off his blade and sheaths it "Not sure Ah can afford a wizard of high caliber " He replies bluntly , as although he's well of he's no major lord.

"Well you can if they've been unemployed for eight years" Aza said casually "i'll work for cheap"

"Ye know a wizard does sound nice now that I think about it" He replies with a nod as he adjusts his thane's sash.

"Fair warning though, i can use magic to heal, do battle, and drive off spirits, but I cannot summon them" Aza added

Uilieam nods , unsurprised , simply guessing that the witches did not teach him this because he was male .

Tenedor meanwhile was still mourning his lute

Out of nowhere two Laithmen grab him roughly by the shoulders and bring him over to Uilieam.

"unhand me, it requires a proper burial!" The musician protested as he was roughly hauled off, there was no indication of whether he was jesting or not

"So what should I be doing at the moment my lord?" Aza asked him "How can I be of use?"

"The men are dragging some bodies out to the valley below , now I ken it's grim business but can ye turn them aflame?" He asks gruffly.

"That i can" the wizard nodded and made his way for the valley

There he finds Laithmen piling up raider bodies in mounds.

Uilieam turns to Tenedor "Oh , what's be thine name lad?"
