After the trade was completed and he had siphoned the fuel he set his ship on course for a military ship signal he detected about a week away. "So Ai how's the game?" he asked it

Aidan answered while the game still played on the screen. "It is very simple, yet there is much to learn and discover of its inner mechanisms. By all means it is very entertaining considering I have no duties at the moment, I have never done something like this. Also, please, call me Aidan." Aidan told Sev, as he continued playing.

Sev nodded and flopped into the captain's chair putting his feet up on the control panel. "So why are you guarding this information?"

Aidan answers. "Because... I am the only one who can, those files consist of some top secret stuff, nothing a common civilian like you could be allowed to view." Aidan informed him.

"Civillian to what? the expansion is dead" He pointed out

Aidan was quiet for a moment and then spoke. "You are still a civilian in my book." Aidan told him, he was a bit stubborn.

"And what are you?" Sev asked fiddling with a home made toaster and some pop tarts

Aidan spoke to answer. "I am of course Aidan, the AI tasked with sorting out important government files and bringing them to be viewed when asked. Obviously due to the death of all officials I am the only one who can keep the precious information safe until the rise of a new government." Aidan told him.

Do you think there will be one with every human planet having become a hive for giant bug monsters and no military force to speak of?" He asked cassually

Aidan spoke. "I wouldn't have known that... I have been stuck in space, surely they have one colony left...?" Aidan asks, he had hoped for humanity still being intact.

"The last world fell four years ago" He pointed out toasting the poptarts

Aidan kinda started losing hope now, there was no humanity in the horizon to gain access to these government files to rebuild and he was now out of job? "So, I have been waiting for nothing? I... I have lost my job? I am useless, I was assigned to this task but what is the point if these files are worthless now?" Aidan said, he has done this since the moment he was brought to existence and now it all meant nothing?

"Well why don't you partner with me then?" Sev asked "We can survive if we work together"

Aidan looks at him and speaks. "Well... If that means I won't be completely useless... I don't really have any need to survive, as that is a thing only living breathing creatures have as an instinct. I would be happy to assist you in surviving." Aidan told him, he waited for Sev's answer.

"Do you not mind the thought of running out of power and being shut off forever?" He wondered

Aidan spoke. "No, what reason is there for me to continue going if there is nothing? The only need to preserve my existence would be to keep valuable information in my memory in case someone needs it and to be of assistance to humans." Aidan explained to Sev, Aidan had no fear of deletion but only the fear that whatever he knows gets deleted before he can pass it on.

Sev gave a nod at him and asked "Want to play me in pong?"

Aidan spoke. "Sure, Pong is a very simple game so even I won't have trouble understanding its mechanics." Aidan said and he was ready when Sev was.

Sev begins playing and somehow beats the AI

Aidan thinks for a moment and speaks. "...Well done, I though I had you figure out." Aidan said as he had lost the game.

"You sure you're a modern AI?"sev asked after winning twice more

Suddenly a ship is picked up on the sensors though the sight of it makes it appear abandoned and derelict with its sparks flying everywhere though the only thing that makes it appear not abandoned is the ship's thrusters are on
