"Oh that guy... damn he'd have found what happened to the captain hilarious" Rook said sadly and explained to the pirate, he eloped on us with a bunch of fine carpets

Bart looks dumbfounded ".....What?...I don't think I heard that right"

"Oh you did" Rook assured him "Carpets he wasted valuable hold space to bring out here"

"I....You're lying" He replies.

"I'm actually not" Rook said suddenly rather grimly

Rin snorted. "What the hell? "

Bart looks a little woozy at that "Your captain was that shit and you're still alive?"

"Thanks mostly to myself and our recently deceased Comrade" rook said to them without the need for moddesty

Rin ruffled his hair.

Bart just grins at that "That so , and what do you do exactly beanpole?"

"Name's Jame's Rookwood, Doctor of the magical arts, typically I make potions or rain death upon our enemies" Rook said bluntly and proudly

"Hmmn , it seems humility is one of your talents as well , although who am I to talk" He replies with a chuckle.

"Indubitably" Rook said to the pirate, he refused to downplay his role in this

"Well suppose we should get onto the business end of things , we have loot..And a lot of it , and we'd like to sell some of that loot for supplies and goodies and such" Bart explains "Can you inform the natives of this?"

"I'll talk to their queen for you" Rook said with a nod

"I'd appreciate that, I'll leave some men behind to negotiate things , for now though I've got to get her *points to his ship* out of this harbor"He states and with that swaggers off.

Rook walked to go meet with the queen and king, he seemed to do well with them

Since they're all the way in the palace by now , it's gonna be a long walk . which allows Rook to admire the amazing architecture of the hill top city.

Rook takes the opportunity to look around at the city's buildings as he walked

Most of the intact buildings are made of simply adobe , the stark near bone white of the sun bleached walls of the houses and buildings decorated by stripes of often blue , orange , or red. On the buildings that are above one story there is often a small garden on the roof , the regular rains of the jungle mountain valley making them easy to care for. The markets are wide , yet simple , large clumps of produce or luxury good stands. Yet what really catches Rook's attention are the produce themselves , yes there are common things like squash , and beans , yet there are these strange vegetable tubes covered in golden pods, and plump round red vegetables with green stalks . These vegetables that will become the staples of modern cooking are unknown to Rook and his crew. Perhaps he should request the king and queen to allow his crew to take some.

Perhaps, but this was probably not the time to ask them for food to take back with them, that time would be after their business in the area was concluded, for he would not wish for them to go bad, and it was probably best that they try some of the food here first... oh crap it had been like a day and a half since they had eaten he was hungry.

The corn is just sitting there in its basket looking delicious , no one is watching , Rook could easily take them.

Rook was a prestigious college graduate and Doctor of the mystic arts, he did not steal food. He continued on his way to the palace and strolled on in,he figured he wouldn't get too much trouble, he had just devastated their foes with magic their people likely had only heard of the gods possesing

He's allowed in but the imperial guards don't seem to like his a little too casual demeanor , since he's addressing their literal physical gods. It takes him a while for Rook to find the king and queen , which gives him more time to appreciate the multi leveled pyramid palace . With it's game courts and pools , greenhouses and areas of worship , eventually he finds them in what appears to be a council room where they are speaking with several nobles. Rook can tell they're are nobles from their elaborate feathered headdresses and vibrant face paint.

Rook bowed and patiently waited his turn
