Shattered frontier

In the year four 4000 AD most of human kind was united in a thriving galactic empire, with the technologically inferior and lawless frontier worlds the only exception.  Due to piracy from the frontier worlds the colonial defense force was formed, an army that operated out of ships and mobile space stations to keep the frontier worlds in check by destroying unregistered space craft and crippling any navy the frontier might have had; any rebels who resisted were quickly put down, their ballistic weapons were no match for the MECHs and plasma weapons of the CDF. Throughout the stars peace and prosperity reigned, it's been lost to time what exactly brought this golden age to an end, but by 4100 none were left to tell the tale, and the core worlds had been reduced to uninhabitable wastelands of radioactive ash.
Now in the year 5000 the CDF has evolved into the Colonial court the only known galactic superpower, operating largely out of space stations, fleets, and a few resource rich occupied worlds. The frontier worlds remain largely lawless and primitive, with only scraps of advanced tech to be found on any given one, the only non-court members with space ships are those traders, bounty hunters, and miners sanctioned by the court, as well as a few space pirates who have managed to evade the court … Or at least that is what they used to think, until a survey team from the court uncovered ancient ruins of nonhuman origin on a remote world in which they found hints of advanced tech beyond even their own, now they scour the galaxy for more.
 
The court
The Magus: They once said any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic, the Magus is this statement given form. Superstition and rumors of sorcery surround the Magus of the Colonial court. It is no wonder such rumor abound, the magus travels in a ceremonial hood and cloak beneath which they are often as much machine as human; with them they carry Plasma staves and advanced technological equipment. Sometimes a Magus will form an attachment to a piece of technology and will meditate over it for hours in contemplation, they also often have maechanica construct assistants called familiars
 Plasma Stave: Not only a powerful ceremonial weapon that can reduce primitive armored vehicles to slag, but a platform for several built in tools with which a Magus can use perform complex repairs and diagnostic feats. Each Magus crafts their own plasma stave and as such each one is different, often they have different functions and tools to suit the user. Designing a stave is a form of self-expression for the magus.
 
The Knight: The most feared warriors in the galaxy are those of the colonial court, trained from birth and well equipped with plasma weapons, MECHs, and advanced alloy blades for close quarters. These soldiers are the hammer of the colonial court. Mostly they work facing enemies of the court, guarding the Magus, and appropriating supplies from planets. Their leader is ranked as Baron or Baroness, and is the joint leader of the court with the Archmagus and the admiral. They are not as adept with tech as a magus, but are adept enough to take care of equipment in the failed and to modify their MECHs.
 

The Pilots: They fly ships and all non MECH vehicles, and are led by the admiral.

Equipment: His Plasma stave resembles a black metal staff with an orb atop it that glows a bright green light of deadly energy surounded by four metal pinnacles a bit like sarumon's staff, the staff has many precise tools in the haft, and can form an energy blade to cut through things. He wears a ceremonial robe and hood

Advanced Weapons
Rifles:

Eradicator 4 Pulse Rifle: The eradicator is a rugged and highly reliable rifle that uses energy pulses to fire high velocity slugs at a target that will penetrate anything short of heavily armored vehicles.  Many knights love this rifle for its sufficient accuracy in mid and low range combat, its reliability, and its ability to go full auto.

Sentry Plasma Rifle:  Though the sentry Plasma Rifle is one of the most advanced small arms in the galaxy not every knight has fallen in love with this. It is a highly accurate rifle, and its energy blast will burn through even heavy vehicles. Sadly this rifle is less than durable and can break rather easily compared to the eradicator, it also cannot go full auto.
 
Special weapons:

Fusion canon: It is a long range energy canon that can take out even heavy MECHs though it has a 10 second charge time.
Plasma thrower: Fires a sustained blast of plasma that will melt nearly anything in close range. It is a bit heavy though.

Alloy blade: A sword of an advanced alloy that can cut through steel

Hornet 2 pulse pistol: It works like the pulse rifle but is smaller and weaker
 
MECHs

MECHs are giant robot suits, that can be heavy but slow or, lightly armored but fast, they can be outfitted with plasma canons, wrist blades, automatic plasma guns, rocket launchers, you name it,  it can be put on a mech

Plasma stave is magus only but otherwise you are approved

The Magus Alex Stood On the the bridge of his Drake class Exploration cruiser their destination was the desert planet Saharan 5 was not far off, the ship he had brought, though large was meant to be crewed by only a few people and carry maybe two dozen knights and three magus maximum, moast of the space was dedicated towards the storage of MECHs, vehicles, and the highly advanced ship to ship weapons systems. As travel time went by the magus took time to make sure all his cybernetics were properly calibrated.

Belladonna walked around the ship to kill some time

"Knight Camila" The magus called her name as she walked by

She stops and turns to him "Magus"

"I need you to assemble a small team with at least one pilot, no MECHs" The magus ordered

"Alright sir" she turns and starts hunting down a people and a few good men

When Soon the planet could be seen in the distance and Magus ordered the pilots to bring them into orbit.

Belladonna mange to find a pilot, and some strong men

The magus looked at how many people she brought

"Sergeant You command the knight team" He said to the towering Knight sergeant Sarpedon also on the bridge "Knight Camila, you're my bodyguard let's go" He headed to the hanger followed by sarpedon

"Yes sir" She follows him

Soon they are on a drop ship headed towards the planet, the knights sit facing eathother in two rows of seats that could hold six more while Alec gives orders to the pilot as he looks at a handheld device
