Finding Work

Mari led him up to the second floor where Orlock was reading in his study

Seth walked in slowly, as he approached Orlock to speak with him.

Victor stands guard outside of Orlock's room ,and waves when Mari and Seth arrive.

Mari waved back at him, though knowing all his inner most thoughts was not a huge fan of victor.

Orlock closed his book and turned to face the young man "Well since mari let you in you must not be a spy, what can i do for you?"

Seth started to speak, to explain himself. "Uh, well... I was wondering if you would have work to offer for me, if I am any of use..." Seth said scratching the back of his head feeling awkward.

Orlock looked the young man over and thought before speaking "I wasn't in the market for employees but you seem desperate so i'll find you something. Can you cook or clean?"

Seth answered the elder vampire's question truthfully. "Well... I can cook something... But clean, definitely, I once had a part time job as a cleaner..." Seth told Orlock, he wondered if he was qualified for the job.

"Cleaning it is, let me know if you become hungry or blood starved, there are non vampires living here" Orlock said as he returned to his book "Mari will set you up a room"

Seth was a little happy as he was employed after all, but the talk of a room made him wonder what was that all about. "Ummm... Wait, what room? Are you saying... That I should live here...? Also, thank you for employing me..." Seth said quietly, he was taking all of this in right now.

"The room is yours fir any needs you may have, if you wish to live in it you are welcome to" Orlock informed him "You're welcome fledgling"

Seth nodded, it sounded nice, the room was probably much more comfy than that little shack he had put up and lived in. Though he did want to move his books from that little shack to this new room he was going to stay in, but that could wait for now as he went over to follow Mari.

Mari lead seth out into the hallway and headed downstairs, the house was actually in great condition and quite huge

Seth was impressed that the vampires were able to construct such a place underground, right under humans noses. Seth was a bit curious about Mari, as they went forward he spoke. "So uh... Sorry if I am a bit nosy but, you are not a vampire... Or a human for that matter... can you tell me what you are...?" Seth asked of her, though he felt that maybe it wasn't the best thing to do.

"Well that's complicated, I think you;d need to spend at least two centuries studying ancient automatons and enchantments to fully understand what I am but the short version is "Orlock's creation" MAri explained as they walk it was very hard to tell why she was dodging the question as her soulless eyes gave little away "Suffice it to say i was made by orlock a little more than 20 years ago"

Seth was a bit confused at that explanation, so Mari wasn't really a living being? Guess he really did not understand how these things worked, Seth got the impression that she is a robot of magical means. "Oh... Okay... So you have been around quite some time..." Seth had nothing else to say really, he did not know what to have a conversation about anything and his social skills had gotten pretty rusty over the past 5 years as he had only read books and avoiding everyone else.

"Not much longer than you have been around from the look of you" She said to seth

Seth was unsure what to take of that. "Well... I guess I am 25 years old... Since I was turned into a vampire 5 years ago, so all of this is pretty new to me... But I suppose I am 5 years older than you..." Seth said and he felt a little embarrassed.

"Nope I said i'm over twenty years; twenty two years teen months two days, six hours, fifty two minutes, and forty seven seconds if we're being specific."  Mari clarified as she oppened the door to a good sized room with a queen sized bed, a wardrobe, and a desk and chair

Seth nodded to what Mari said, but as they arrived at the room Seth was in awe. He ran into the room and went over to the bed and spoke, clear astonishment in his voice. "Is, is this a real bed!? It is so soft... Am I... Am I really going to live here!?" Seth questioned, he had not slept in a real bed in 5 years and in his little shack he had only slept wrapped up in a blanket and head on a pillow with no real mattress.

A smile crept into Mari's voice "Well indeed it is, and you are if you want to"

Seth nodded, he was going to move here completely since it had such... Luxuries, stuff that Seth missed from his human life. "Of course, I need to move my books here as well... So uhhh... What now? What am I suppose to do now?" Seth questioned as he calmed down, he was not sure if there was a tour or anything around this place.

"Come with me, you'll need to keep the library, dining room, ball room, living  room, and kitchen clean" Mari informed him

Seth nodded and followed, that was indeed a lot of work. "Okay, then that will be my area of work?" He questioned as they walked along the hallways to take a look at the said rooms.

"Cleaning supples are in the kitchen closet and under the sink" Mari said to Seth "Kitchen and living room should be cleaned once a day, the library once every other day. The ballroom once a week unless there is a ball"

Seth nodded as he tried to memorize all of those instructions, nothing too much thankfully. "Okay... Got it... You mentioned a library, can I see it?" Seth asked of her.
