That is true but the way they are phrasing it is misleading. Having read the study it looked at fourteen viking graves in england, and some of them were found with swords, but they were found near actual settlements. Now shield maidens did exist and we have quite a bit of evidence of large women taking the field in large numbers in viking battles, but we have only found significant numbers of women fought in defensive battles, and in a few important battles where the men were badly outnumbered, and if you're read any of the sagas when the norse typically took their wives with them on long journeys, but they (ussually) did not act as raiders. While it is important to note that in viking society women could rule and had a lot of power compared to other places, but the evidence at this point seems to suggest that the vast majority of raiders were men, and women ussually took a role as backup in offensive warfare, and as defensive fighters helping protect settlements. There are a few exceptions of course, such as Heltha, Wisna, and Weboig. The latter is known for having reckt a viking champion in single combat, then having been shot to death with an arrow. But anyway the article is misleading in that it seems to imply there is any evidence the women were actually raiders, but the study makes no such claims nor provides any such evidence, i'd assume most of them probably died defending settlements just based on what we know about viking culture until presented with further evidence.
