The Cowan's of Erias Empty The Cowan's of Erias

World name: Erias
World description: Erias is a world at war with itself for as long as anyone can remember, chiefly between the Cowan Empire in the west and the Kingdom of Arigalla in the east, though the long tusk raiders of the south are also worthy of mention. The geographical landscape is that of two supercontinents. Upon the western continent is the Cowan empire, the western continent is known for its cast mountain ranges and tundra with naturally fertile land being rather rare and mostly located along the middle coasts thus since the empire grew much of its food is produced in artificial environments; It is also known its southern steppe and savanna where Long Tusk warbands roam. To the east is arigala by contrast a land of great plains, forests, and gently sloping hills; the land is dominated by the Arigallans an ebony skinned sister race to the Cowans and the forest dwelling fair ones whom they hold in high esteem.

Race name: Cowan
Race description: Ivory of skin, blue or red of eyes, black of hair, and generally slender of build, they could definitely pass for human and are just about their equal physically. Slight magical talent is common, but the ability to cast spells independently is very rare indeed.

Culture: The Cowan Empire has been under siege since the day it was formed, from the first war against the Man Eaters of the mountains, to the conflicts with the Arigallans and the fair ones, to the great ride of the Long Tusk that nearly brought an end to the empire a mere century ago; the Cowans have fought constantly to defend their nation, homes, and their very lives usually from beings far superior to them physically and even sometimes magically  (the major exception being Arigallans whom the Cowans are on roughly equal terms with.) The only reason Cowan still stands is its ingenuity in both tactics and technology. The artificers of Cowan are mage engineers and inventors who though unable to cast spells on their own dedicate their lives to the creation and manufacture of enchantments and magical technology though weapons alone cannot win wars they certainly give the armies of cowan a better chance; even if that is of little comfort to the average spear wielding footsoldier trying to bring down a Long Tusk twice his size and four times his strength. They are of course a highly nationalistic people with a strong sense of duty as a result of their largely hostile relations with the other races of Eria, with Mountain goblins being the near sole exception, and a race the Cowan’s consider almost kin. The symbol of the Cowan Empire is the red dragon a creature who fought alongside their armies in the distant past. The Emperor of Cowen is elected by a council of generals and important officials.
