Half Right!

"I see... I've dealt with this before" Ivana said with a bit of a nod as she guided Rook to a cot and layed him down. "You see controlling a person through spirit magic is a dangerous thing, over time a soul that is being influenced begins to develop... I suppose you could call it something between a reliance and an addiction, parts of the soul begin to waste away, and when the magic is gone it begins to slowly collapse in on itself, I'm amazed he lasted this long." She said as she dug some chalk out of her a bag and removed Rook's coat and shirt

Syndr nodded and simply watched , brows furrowed with measured concern "It was definitely his father." She concluded.

"Well who ever it was, you go fetch the Commander while I administer treatment, I need to have a talk with him..." She said firmly, despite being generally sweet and caring when it came to caring for those in her charge she could make a wild bull turn tail and run.

"Yes of course." She replied and with that stormed off like a grizzly bear , returning a while later with a tired looking commander and guards.

She was looking rather tired herself; she was half collapsed in a chair after giving him his first magic injection, and she motioned to rook lying their staring at nothing when the commander came in "I have good news and bad news commander" She stated with a bit of a triumphant smile "The good news is that in a few weeks you will have a fully functioning artillery mage highly resistant to control via soul magic... the bad news is your artillery mage's soul is trying to collapse in on itself, and he will need to be excluded from training and drills for at least two weeks."

"Saint's above....I don't even wish to know how this happened , too many problems right now." He replied pinching the bridge of his thin nose in frustration as he turned away "Carry on Ivana , I thank you for informing me." He declared and with that promptly walked off.

When he left she looked as Syndr "He'll recover... at least mostly, so long as he gets treatment" She assured him "and he will get treatment, by all rights he should have kicked the bucket weeks ago; it's amazing he survived this long so I can't promise you he will ever be exactly how he was, at the very least though he'll be far from some husk."

She nodded silently , simply crossing her arms and turning her eyes to the ground "Thank you...for everything." She replied quietly ,she was not hoping for a miracle , that he would somehow be who he was exactly...but she wanted to recognize him.

 "What a sorry lot you have darling Ivana , to be burdened with fixing up scoundrels such as myself." Alessio smirked , green eyes twinkling with amusement as he watched the nursemaid fix up some manner of painkiller .

"You're no trouble to me." Ivana said as she went about preparing the usual mostly pain killer based treatment with some minor regenerative concoction to offset some of the damage he's done to himself internal. She was still clearly tired from Rook's infusion, but not to tired to nag at him a bit "You need to take it easy out there for your own sake, if you keep pushing yourself like this; you may not even live to see the end of the war"

"I need not live to see that ." He replied with a shake of his head as he leaned against a wooden drawer. The two of them had been going back and forth like this for about as long as they'd known each other. She attempted to convince him to slow down , to consider his health and he merely asked her to keep him healthy and moving for as long as possible. "I do not need to see past the end of this war , what I need is to be remembered after it....not as a bed ridden sick man as you would have me darling Ivana."  As soon as the words left his mouth he regretted them , that had come out far too harsh.

"You don't have to be bed ridden and sick to not tear yourself apart, not even in your condition" She said sternly eyes narrowing a bit. "You won't be remembered if you tear up your insides before you see combat will you?" she sighed

"I...am sorry , you worry for me...why I don't know , but you do , and I am sorry for that." He replied ,eyes going to the floor in a measure of shame "But I cannot stop my training as you might have me do , if I do then what is the point of being an officer? If I cannot run with the men , spar with the men , how would I lead them into the fray?" He asked , eyes rising back up to meet hers , crackling with a green fire Ivana must have known she couldn't hold back.

Seeing the fire in his eyes; she sighed, and shook her head administering the treatment in silence

"Thank you...for understanding." The words were quiet , but sincere to a fault , most of the physician's and healers who had treated him over the many years , they had tried to stop him. Yet she simply advised , she knew that his will on this matter would not be overturned and she respected his right to do as he wished. She was a wonderful kind thoughtful woman and he in no way deserved her friendship , at least that was the conclusion he had come to.

"Oh that reminds me, that artillery mage you know is here as well, comatose" she said as she finished up

"......Wonderful." He replied with a low sigh "May I see him?"

"Of course, we're keeping him in the other tent; trying to keep his soul from collapsing in on itself." She explained to him "Likely by the end of this it will be in a better state than you've seen it"

"....How the hell did this happen."

"Someone's been using soul magic to control him for an extended period of time, apparently his father according to syndr." She informed him leading Alessio to the comatose rook

He nodded curtly , while he cared for the man , and had noticed him becoming more and more terse and dull , he had simply chalked it up to Rook being moody.

"Probably should have died weeks ago if I'm honest" she admitted to him "Resilient soul that one"
