"Let me ask you a very simple question Amok...the pain you felt , when the plasma seared half of your face until it looked like melted wax...did the hive mind care? Did they attempt to comfort you? Ask if you were okay?" He asks , not even looking at Amok as he leans against the wall , arms crossed.

Amok looks back at Endar, he speaks. "What does that matter? Our job is to serve, I'm... Quite expendable... We all are, if I die they will put someone else to fill the spot... Why do you even care?" Amok asked, neither of his species cared about each other really, they all were nothing to each other and only the Queen matters to them.

"That sounds shitty" 13 observed "I've felt what you feel and independence feels better"

Amok just murmurs as 13 speaks the truth, he replies. "Yeah well, I am not part of a species that would be independent. I am just a part of our community, that will never change and even know I can hear them all." Amok said, he probably should be left in some other planet to wait for being picked up by his own.

"You just have to chose to change" 13 said bluntly

Amok looked at 13, he was doubtful of that. "And how would I do that? If I step our of line I will never hear the end of it from the others, it is not like I can disconnect from them all." Amok said to 13, whilst he moved his hand to touch the new left side of his face.

"I bet you can" 13 said to him

The skin on the left side is soft , smooth , entirely unmarred , like a baby's.

Amok was glad that his face seemed okay, whatever sort of technology they used to regenerate new skin after the old one melted away. "13, you don't understand yet how my species work. And I am telling that there is no way to disconnect from the hive mind." Amok said firmly, he did not think of it possible as they were born with this connection.

"I can neutralize the part of your brain that makes the connection..." 13 offered

Amok looks at 13 still doubtful but still... "Well uh... I would be labeled dead... But would I... Be okay without the connection? I have not been without it before... Do you think we should do it? I of course trust you 13... In this." Amok said and he nervously fidgets with his fingers.

"Look Amok...we barely know you , we've all only been around each other for two days....don't make any big decisions just yet" Endar says calmly "Especially not over a scumbag like me eh? Way i figure it you've been connected to the hive your whole life ,always had their voices in your corner , who's to say you won't go insane...if you split off?"

"I think you would be better off" was 13's reply he had studied the weaknesses of amok's species he knew members had left the range of the hive mind and been more or less ok

"13 I ain't so sure , humans like you and me , we go crazy if we get isolated from others ,for more than a month or so , him...he's never even been alone in his own mind before...I don't think we should press him into anything " Endar replies firmly , eyes still staring out into the street where there is a large stain of blood from the earlier conflict "At least not until we're actually all friends , instead of just acquaintances "

"Well the alternative is the hivemind get our location from him, and come after you, and then I don't have an Ace pilot to fly me around" 13 said

"That hive was doing one of probably bajillions of research threads , and it ended badly , besides I'm not some legendary outlaw , no reason to single me out" He replies , unworried about such things "I doubt they care enough"

Amok speaks up. "Getting disconnected from the hive mind does sound really scary... You both have good points... I honestly don't know myself..." Amok says, this was a tough decision.

"Besides if I deliver him safely back to one of his colonies with his research ,I'm pretty sure they won't try and lock me up" He replies.

Amok speaks more. "Unless you are able to please them, they will arrest you or worse..." Amok says, as Endar would have to please them somehow.

"For returning one of their own safely with tons of research? After saving him from an exploding planet?"

"And since i've been here you haven't even been able to please anyone on this ship" 13 chimed in with his opinion

"Well if you think that you don't have to stay on it"

Amok speaks. "Well, you can try, are we still heading to a colony planet?" Amok asks, since he did have the data disks still with him.

"I'm just saying I sn't think they're my biggest fan either, I just shot one of them I feel like i will get disected" 13 voiced his concerns

"I don't know , for some reason the hive have it out for me , so I'm not sure if I want to risk that" He replies "I mean your species seem like utter dicks on the whole , what if I bring you there with all your research and they just cage me? You might just have to take a shuttle or something"
