The Border

Although she wasn't sure where exactly it was, Ara knew the border that lead them from Eros to the kingdom of Owls was coming up soon. She had pondered long on the reason behind that particular name; she found owls rather creepy. Of course, that was only to distract herself from her true worry of crossing the border. Sure, doing so would result in her freedom. However, doing so would mean she was no longer bound to Alec. She was worried he might just... leave her, now that he no longer technically owned her. But after two years, she found this a stupid thing to be concerned about. He was nice than that. Unfortunately, she could not fully banish this thought from her mind, and it had been chewing on her for a few days now. Similarly, she kept thinking about all the ones she had left behind. It didn't go well last time she did that. Consequently, she had been awfully quiet.

"Excited to be free?" Alec asked giving a smile when they reached the border, the smile was not entirely forced; he wanted her to be free and happy, but it hid a fear deep within him. What if she no longer wanted to be with him when they crossed, what if she didn't want to be with him anymore, what if he became a reminder of a time she'd rather forget, what if the only reason she was with him in the first place was because he was her master, and running from him would leave her in a more dangerous situation in Eros. Alec didn't want to believe any of this, and a rational part of him  didn't, but the concern plagued him none the less

"Yes," She said, because that was the thing to say. And she was, of course, to an extent. But the worries still remained. Even so, this was much better to deal with than her position a year or two ago. She watched him carefully. There was nothing in his countenance to suggest h was planning to leave. If anything he seemed almost as anxious as her. Although that could also be a bad sign. Perhaps he was planning to.

Alec suddenly took her hand as they they approached border, he was searching for some sort of reassurance he wouldn't lose her

Ara glanced to him, brows drawing together slightly at his expression. "What is it?" she asked softly.

"Ara I love you..." Was all Alec found words to say looking into her eyes

Her gaze shifted between both his eyes, as if searching for a lie, a mask. Eventually her eyes softened and she leaned in to give him a kiss.

Alec returned the kiss with a desperate passion, this was a huge change but he knew they loved eachother and they'd make it work

Rain poured down on them, because pathetic fallacy.

Alec disliked the rain as he was a fire dragon and reacted by jumping like a soaked cat

Ara just laughed at him, because how else would one react to this big buff dude skittering about in the rain. She had always liked the rain. There was something nice about the fact it washed everything away.

Alec was eventually able to contain himself and clear his throat from embarrasment

She shook her head, still laughing at him. "You're adorable."

Alec blushed even more, she'd never called him that before "uh... thanks you to" he said shooting her a smile

She returned the smile, and pulled him closer for another kiss.

Alec let her lead him into the kiss, he loved it

She broke off first. "We should probably continue..." She said, staring off into the distance. She then rested her head against his chest and her voice dropped to a whisper. "Just please don't leave me."

"Never" Alec assured her as he held her close

Her heart swelled in her chest, and she wrapped her arms around him.

"Let's head out love" Alec said to her with a smile

She gave a nod, taking his hand.
