The Crack of Dawn

Dawn yawns slightly ,rubbing some sleep from her eye as she gets off of her cot , she quickly helps up ,vet's dressed and begins to boil some tea over a hot fire ,which is cut off from the rest of the treehouse with a barrier of wet rocks. She realized a few days ago that so.ething had changed ,that she was in a different time , and while she missed her new girlfriend dearly ,she had been rather calm about the whole ordeal. She had first awoken in this treehouse ,deep in the forests outside of Chicago with border lake Michigan . She was well equipped with hunting gear ,and more than a few magic amulets . She also had tons of food ,her main problem was that well......She had no idea how to get down.

Devi had almost given up on her search. She had tried cyberstalking everyone who goes by the name of Dawn, but she couldn't find her Dawn. She had also searched basically the entirety of Chicago, had asked around if anyone had seen anyone by her description, and had even requested that an old friend hack into police reports to search for any potential criminal records, but had so far had no luck. She had started believing that she was perhaps in another country, or dead, or maybe doesn't even exist in this time line. But regardless, Devi had been filling her time with painting pictures of her late lover. Apparently Devi in this time had leaned much more towards painting than the other had, as she had mostly just focused on pencil previously.
Anyway, she really needed a break from the stupid city that was hiding her girlfriend from her, so she started hiking through a certain, convenient forest, in the hopes that it might give her some inspiration to paint something that does not give her pain.

As Dev is walking a sudden rain of scalding hot water splashes onto the ground in front of her "Oh! Crap! You okay? " A voice says from above.

Devi gave a surprised yelp at the sudden waterfall before her, and jumped back to avoid the searing heat. She peered up in confusion at the voice that drifted down from above.

Wasn't eyes widen as she sees Deb's face "Devi! You're alive!"

"Dawn?" She asked, brows drawing together in confusion. "Dawn! Dawn, you're here!" And then she broke down into floods of happy-tears.

Dawn chuckles "I'd come down and hug you but , I have no idea how to get down"

Devi giggled, wiping away tears. "You eejit. I dunno, jump and I'll catch you."

Dawn laughs "Alright if your sure , but if you don't " She replies with a grin as she takes a few steps back and leaps off the tree house towards her girlfriend with an excited yelp.

Devi reached her arms out to catch her, however she may have overestimated her strength and they both ended up sprawled on the ground with Dawn on top of her. "Oof"

"Dumbass"

Devi just wrapped her arms around Dawn, burying her face into the crook of her neck and breathing in her scent. "I missed you."

"I missed you to" Dawn replies with a small giggle as Dev basically sniffs her neck.

"Chris is going to be fuming because I found you before he found Leo," She said with a grin.

"Hey that's not very nice , at the very least don't tease him about it" Dawn replies with a laugh as she sits up .

"I won't tease him, I'll just rub it in his face," She grinned, still hugging Dawn. She was worried that if she let go, she will disappear again.

Dawn smiles "You know if you keep hugging me from behind i can't hug back , and it'll just be very one sided"

Devi groaned as if it were such an inconvenience to let go of her girlfriend and move around to hug her normally.

"Fine , if it's such an arduous task to allow me to turn around " Dawn replies with a laugh.

"Oh hush," She murmured, face in her chest. "Hey, how did you get in the tree in the first place?"

"No idea , just kind of woke up in there , couldn't fly down because for some reason my wings didn't work" She explains frankly as she holds Dev close .

Devi looked up at her in concern. "That's not good..."

She nods " don't know why , I tried to see if I could remember the reason, but to be honest aside from recent events I barely remember anything , except that I'm reeeeaallly oldI"

"Ah, yeah. Yeah you are," She nodded in agreement. "Uhm... Maybe... get your wings checked out... by someone...?" She suggested.

Dawn nods "Yeah , but where would I go for that? I don't know of any angel doctors in the area" She replies flatly.
