Trouble at the Plains

Acheron had another successful night as he tormented some criminals with his Mind Game, breaking their minds apart making them a bit koo-koo. This was an epidemic and the police wanted to know why, since they are sure it is a supernatural cause a hunter had been dispatched to investigate and interrogate those criminals affected. The criminals always said the same thing, it was the 'shadow'. Acheron was sitting on a rock this evening, all smiles as he had done more good work or at least that is how he saw it as.

Andrea had been one of the hunters investigating these unusual occurrences, and had even interrogated a few of them herself. Still, she had no luck in getting closer to solving it. She was dressed casually, her dreads pulled back in a tail out of the way, so she looked in no way a hunter. Although, she did have a handgun tucked into her leather jacket. She had been going out jogging away from the bustling city, as it gave her time to think, and happened to pass a young man on a rock. She offered a friendly wave.

Acheron noticed the jogger around, as she waved at him he waved back. Not a usual sight at the plains but eh, he did not care.

Andrea's phone rang.

She tugged her phone out, shooting a sheepish smile at the stranger as her ringtone was the Doctor Who intro song. "Yo," She said once answering it, slowing.

It was some other hunter, he spoke. "Since you are still on the 'shadow' case, I was thinking of setting a trap. We will fake a robbery and maybe the culprit will come, since they seem to focus on people who break the law. You in?" The male hunter asked, his name was also Ernesto.

"Come on, Ernie, you know I'm always up for a bit of action." She said, absently kicking a stone into the horizon. She glanced to Acheron, before looking away and lowering her voice. "We getting a real criminal to do it or one of us?"

Acheron was just gazing at the horizon, not hearing the conversation.

Ernesto spoke more. "Right, good and as I said, it will be a fake robbery. So I will be playing the robber and all the others will monitor and look if the culprit comes over and kill it. Sound good?" He asked as he was writing stuff down while being at the phone.

"Aye, looking forward to it," She said, stretching. "When and where?"

Ernesto answered. "The 'Gleaming Gem' jewelry store, everything is set up with actors as the owner was kind enough to lend the building for us. Time is tomorrow 08:00PM, and I will 'rob' the place at 08:30, the police will make sure that they are loud about it and we also will make sure it is loud enough." Ernesto told her, everything had been set up

"Sounds great, Erns, see ya then," She said, before hanging up, and plopping up on the rock next to the stranger with a sigh.

Acheron wondered why the jogger stopped jogging and sighted as she sat down on another rock. Well, Acheron paid no mind.

She leaned back on her hands and cast her gaze to the sky. "Nice evening, eh?"

Acheron heard what the jogger said, and answered. "It sure is, I like how the sun sets right now leaving all the windows in Chicago orange..." Acheron said, guess there was nothing bad about small talk.

"I've always preferred the sunrise myself," She answered, absently tugging on a single dread. "But I didn't have time for a job this morning so I missed it." She smiled sheepishly. She had come into work late for like the hundredth time.

Acheron nodded and spoke more. "Oh yeah? That is a shame, I'm just more if a sunset kinda guy. I don't have work at mornings, I usually just take a walk..." Acheron said as he sat there.

"Yeah, well I'm a teensy bit afraid of the dark," She chuckled slightly. "So the sunrise is more appealing to me. And on that topic, I should probably fly before it gets too dark." She gave him a friendly smile. "Good talking to you, see ya!" And with that, she took off jogging again back home.

Acheron waved goodbye to her, he probably should start moving too as you never knew what was going on in the Nightwood Inn.

(Timeskip, to her arriving at the location.)

The next day, Andrea showed up fashionably late at the agreed place.

Ernesto shook his head slightly as he saw Andrea coming late as things were being set up. "There you are! late as usual... But enough talk, you should get ready." Ernesto told her, things were still being set up around.

"What role am I playing? The damsel in distress?" She asked, grinning.

Ernesto spoke. "No, I want you to be looking at the cameras and come help when the culprit gets here. You can do that right?" Ernesto asked as he took a sack where his disguise was.

"'Course I can," She replied with a wink, before skipping off to do her job.

Ernesto nodded, he went over to change and everything was getting ready. Andrea should sit down and relax looking at the cameras.

Andrea perched herself down and kicked her feet up, taking a bite out of a croissant while she waited and watched.

After a while the whole scene would play out and all acted it out, they made sure the while thing was loud and clear and so did the police. And as they used time soon Acheron arrived on the scene and spoke. "Well now, another fool for the fire... Bad day for you to be doing this..." Acheron said and stood at the doorway out of the building and Ernesto just took off his robber mask with a smile.
