Age of Discovery Rp

It is morning the year is 1495 by Carolinian accounting ,it is April 16th a Monday ,the Gallian customary day for any major undertaking for it is a day after the day one has cleansed himself before the Lord, at least by traditional carolinic views. The dandiest of dandies , one sir, Francois Bonnefoy stands on the deck of whatever ship this is he didn't bother to learn the name ,he sniffs a bit . He is not very used to the salty stinging air of the sea , he has lived a life of relative comfort and opulence and has only ever used the blade on his hip during practice sessions or during the rare campaigns where he's gone to war. He is young ,slightly naive ,and completely in over his head to think with absolute certain that he will survive this voyage . However these thoughts do not trouble him as he makes his way to the captains cabin anticipation rattling in his chest like a puppy in a kennel.

It was the shup named Karanja, owned by Captain Amos who was sitting in his cabin looking at the maps on the table. He raised his head when he noticed someone walking in, he looked at the lad wondering what was his business.

"Bonjour ? You are le Capitan oui? Oui you are, I am Francois Bonnefoy ,the man funding your voyage if you remember the paperwork,and I'd like to know when we set out" He says rather quickly as he stands sharply before the desk eyes glancing around the cabin absently.

Elian was perched in the crows nest over looking the vast expanse of sea. She liked it up here, with the crisp air and the sharp winds and the incredibly view. It relaxed her, she had to get away from all the lads below somehow, this was her escape. She did get along with all of them, of course. She was nice to them, as you don't get very far by being a twat. Well, unless you had gold coming out of your ass, then you can afford being like that and then some. But not her, she had no wealth nor power and so she had to get by through sneakier means.

The sole wizard hired for the ship's Voyage seemed rather aloof and deep in thought as he looked out over the Bow of the ship at the sea and sky ahead. He was Doctor James Rookwood not the sort of person who would typically apply for a job like this, a mid twenties aristocrat fresh out of a magic university whose family has hardly been on a ship this last century, yet he did not seem seasick or anything like that as he gazed ahead considering what was to come, and came with excellent recommendations; he could likely have gotten a cushy job as a scholar, professor, or court wizard, but he was here setting forth on a dangerous voyage across the most vast of seas.

Amos nods and then motions him to sit on a chair there, he speaks. "Ah yes... Indeed, I'll, tell you know that you chose the best ship on this harbor for the job. And to answer your question, we are leaving quite soon once the much needed cargo has been moved in, shouldn't be long now... But ah, while we wait for that to happen how about a glass of some fine wine?" Amos asked as he took a bottle from a box located under the table and a few glasses.

Francois' attention snaps back to the captain at the mention of wine "Oui that would be most nice monsieur ,and I am glad to here we shall be setting forth soon " he says in a cheery tone .

Meanwhile on the main deck a man covered in door and ash stumbles up from a lower deck ,coughing up smoke "Dammit ,dammit all,what kind of cannons even are those ? Only a total himar would buy such things and not even keep them clean!" He growls as he slips off fully into his native tongue ,completely in a rage.

Amos nods with a slight smile as he places the glasses down and pours some wine into them, he puts the bottle away for now as he grabs his own glass and takes a small sip. He hears the commotion outside but pays no mind, hearing such shouting was normal.

Snapped out of his trance the Doctor straightened up and figured he aught to talk to the captain, and get acquainted; as he needed a place to set up a lab in, the captain was clearly the man sipping the wine so he approached him "Captain amos I presume" the wizard courteously asked

Amos looked at the wizard entering his cabin, even though he was kinda busy here with someone else. "Yes, yes indeed I am... So, what is it that you need my attention in?" Amos asked as he took a sip from his wine.

"Then let me introduce myself, i'm Doctor James Roockwood, wizard . Sorry to interrupt, but I have delicate equipment I need to set up, an put the proper charms to hold it in place before the ship gets moving; where can I set up my lab?" the wizard inquired towards the captain, it really was important .

Amos shook his head as he put the glass of wine down on the table and looked at the wizard. "I see... Well then, as long as you don't create any explosions while we set sail you can use one of the cabins in this ship." Amos stood up and went over to a drawer which he opened and picked up a key, he threw the key to the wizard. "That is a key for your cabin that you will be using during this trip, room 2 just under the deck." Amos said and went back to sit down, the key even had a small wooden plate attached to it with the number 2 on it.

"I don't cause explosions" The wizard assured him catching the key he added "Thank you captain" and headed towards the cabin he had a key to, to set up.

"Well that was a bit rude "Francois murmurs absently at this rather excellent wine.

Amos nods as he picks up his own glass and takes a sup, he then speaks more. "Anyway, is there anything else you want to know? Questions?" Amos asked him with a slight smile.

"Hmmm? No no ,I am content for now I will nag you no longer "He replies back chuckling .

Amos nods, he speaks more. "Well then, go to that drawer and pick up a key to your cabin that you would like to use. It is going to be a long journey until we hit the next port, so best get comfy." Amos said with a smile, this job was going to pay him well and damn he liked money.

Francois nods and does just that before calmly strolling out onto the desk ,which is an absolute chaos. It seems the cannoneer guy is trying to beat up that doctor from earlier,god knows why.

(Flashback time!)

Hamid angrily walks the deck of the ship ,still utterly pissed off at that cannon malfunction from below deck ,damn thing could have kill everyone! As he storms off to the less crowded part of the ship he almost trips over someone's foot.

The doctor meanwhile was simply heading to his cabin to mind his own business, and set up his lab because he's just here to do a job and go west he didn't really care about these people or their problems "Excuse me" he said cordially as he slid by an annoyed looking gentleman blocking the way bellow deck.

Hamid nods with and looks over the man "You're new ,can I ask who you are?"

"I'm Doctor Rookwood" James said offering a hand to shake and a smile, he really was in a hurry and disliked being stopped but it would have been rude to simply ignore the man

"Hamid Oglu Celal,I'm the guy in charge of not blowing us all up ,a pleasure" He replies ,his voice is gruff and heavily accented but polite.
