Background: Originally the son of a peasant. His village was raided and razed by bug people in a border skirmish for some conflict he knew nothing about; as one of the few survivors who had fled he joined a gang bandits for a few years to get by where. He learned some swordsmanship and archery from the more experienced fighters, but knew he had to leave when their tactics became increasingly brutal to the point where they would slaughter whole families, so he stole some of their coin and ran, killing one of the lieutenants in the process of escaping.
