God I hate you

(The next day after school)

 The sun's heat is intense that day , so intense most have decided to just stay inside or maybe hit the pool. Yet it in no way matches the scalding wrath that burns it's way through Bartholomew's core.  Melting his bones , lungs and heart to a boiling puddle with it's intensity , burning to ash any other feelings that may bloom .Affection, sadness, fear , all immolated and reduced to naught by this never ending maelstrom of anger .  Thunder clouds forming in his heart as he storms over to Demetri , who stands in the shade of his tree with a few friends. Eyes steely and almost intimidating , so much so that the vampires friends scramble before he even reaches them.

Demetri didn't even care about his friends, his eyes were just locked on Candy as he approached. Demetri had been quiet all day, but his friends had not really noticed that, which he is grateful for. He looked at Candy with eyes full of sadness and regret, but didn't yet utter a word.

A foot collides firmly with his jaw, loosening one of the vampires teeth with the impact and sending him stumbling back against the tree. Before he even has time to recover Candy is on him , hands gripping his collar tight as he locks eyes with Demetri "You son  of a bitch....Why?! Why in the hell would you do that ?! Now I'm gonna keep things simple because you're probably a little dazed right now....I don't care how much self hatred and denial and all of that bullshit is going on , you do not get to play games with me! I'm not gonna spend the rest of my life chasing after a few furtive moments just because you wanna deny yourself what you want......now" He stops , taking a few slow breaths to keep his fragile composure , eyes closed to prevent angry tears from flowing down his cheeks "...Are we clear?"

He was too surprised to react, but even so he probably wouldn't have done anything anyway. He wouldn't have been able to; he was too lost in the emotion in Candy's eyes. Still, his head jerked to the side, and pain exploded in his jaw and mouth as his back hit a tree. He felt hands on his collar, forcing him to meet Candy's eyes again. He regretted it immediately. Candy's words were knives, burying hilt deep into his chest and carving out his heart. His carved out heart shattered when the tears flowed down Candy's cheek, but he remained silent and still, as if any movement would break him entirely.

The stillness does nothing but add to despair , giving him the feeling that his words were nothing but an army broken on the walls of Demetri's heart, exhausted and bleeding. "Answer me" He pleads , voice shaking "I can't do this ...not for much longer , I....I can't...I need an answer" He continues as tears move down slow."Answer me!...I can't wait forever for you to stop being a coward"

Demetri was physically unable to move. His heart was crumbling to fine dust, and his body was soon ready to follow suit. Candy's words hurt him more than anything else had hurt him in his entire life. Shame burned his cheeks, and prevented him from speaking. He could not believe that it was him who had caused such torment.

"And you wanna know why twilight ?...Because I love you" He says , so quiet that only Demetri can hear , but more than loud enough to feel a rush of relief after saying it "I love you ...I have for so long , and...and it hurts ,not being able to have you, do you understand me? It hurts badly , so...so very badly , when I know you feel the same , you think I don't feel a sting of pain when you yell out all those insults at me? I do , but it isn't because it hurts my feelings or something , it's because I know that everything you say is just how you feel about yourself...and-and I want to help..and you won't let me" He replies , voice near shivering as the words come out and his grip becomes much gentler.

For once in his life, Demetri's mind was not so intensely focused on what everyone else thought of him. Time seemed to slow when Candy said those three little words. They didn't sink in at first. He stared, eyes wide, and filling with tears but they didn't fall. How did he know that's how he felt about himself? He has never told anyone that. Is it that obvious? All these questions rushed around in his mind, but Candy was in the forefront of it. He stepped forward, and wrapped his arms around the fey. The hug seemed more to hold up Demetri, who seemed to lose the ability to stand up properly, but in his mind it was all for Candy. "I'm sorry," He whispered. "I'm so sorry."

Candy breaks as soon as those arms wrap around him , stepping into the embrace and letting out the tears into Demetri's chest, his own arms wrapping around the vampire as his knees shake a bit. Yet as he hears those words , warm tears flooding down his cheeks and forming a wet patch in Demetri's shirt , a smile tentatively forms on his face and he turns his eyes up to look at Demetri's "I-it's okay...just..just don't run off this time" He replies , voice filled with joy although the slight hint of bitterness in those last words exhibit that he's all to serious about that last part. "Ooohh my god , oh my god....it's just you know...it's been three years man , three years of nothing but this" He murmurs as the tears begin to ebb.

His words did not assure Demetri; he knew it wasn't okay. He had literally dropped the fey and ran after their sweet ass makeout sash.  His eyes lifted towards his friends, who watched from afar and he quickly averted them again. They would low key interrogate him after this. He couldn't tell them, they wouldn't understand. But yet he did not want to go back to the way things were. It was different now, and he ached to cling onto it.

Candy blushes a bit as notices Demetri's friends and being Candy just waves "Hi...we kind of made out at the pool for like the first time ever and then he dropped me onto the hard tile floor..I got a bit mad as you can see but it's all good now , as long as he doesn't pull that shit again" He explains bluntly, with the typical social awareness you'd expect a Candy to have.

"Candy!" Demetri  hissed, face burning, as those good friends of his laughed and made homophobic slurs.

"Oh...well I didn't know your friends were assholes" He replies bluntly.

"They hung out with me, what did you expect?"

"I'm an optimist " He replies with a grin.

He started to retreat. "I need to get out of here. They are going to hate me now."

"Hey um Demetri...who the fuck cares?"He replies , voice full of confidence.

"I do," He said with a frown. "You've killed my social life." He was unaware how rude he was being, convinced it was Candy'a fault and didn't think of  the fact that everyone would probably find out eventally anyway.

"You realize everyone but them knows right....you accidentally hit on me all the time" He replies with a snort.

"No I dont," He replied, frown deepening.

Candy tries to hold in the chuckle , eventually it bursts out in a laugh "Yeah ,yeah you do" He replies "Remember that time you said you 'enjoy seeing me down' ?"

He folded his arms, colour rising in is cheeks. "I wasn't hitting on you."

"You said ahahahahah!! You said , you said you enjoy seeing me down ! If that isn't the most top thing to say I don't know what is" He replies with just the smuggest grin .

"That wasn't... I. .." Demetri tried and failed to explanation himself.
