The Great War RP Background

The Great War, otherwise known as the war to end all others...it ended nothing. A conflict beginning with the death of a prince , and ending with the burying of a generation. Scarring the lands of Antoreia for centuries to come , ending empires that have stood for centuries , sowing turmoil that will define the events of the rest of the century. Millions of men killing each other for the ideals of a few old ones , old grudges and past wrongs forging blood lust ,yet at a cost. New ways to kill , from lung melting gas to shell spraying automatons, everyone eager to test them out on each other. The end of the medieval ideals of war ,soon enough gone will be the bright costumes , the lance and the horse , the brave charge to melee. The illusion of the glorious brave honorable war replaced by men huddling in trenches whispering orders to monsters of steel and smoke to fire death upon men they've never met. By this crucible the world will enter a new more modern age. From the frigid forests of northern Gaullia to the oil filled sands of Agrab the ground will drink the blood of men ,women ,and children. And the old men in their palaces will see all of this...and call it just.

Nations :

The Allies:

The United Empire of Albion:The empire spanning the globe , and the current premier world power  , they've the best funded navy in the world and due to a complex network of alliances and treaties , now fight with the Allies against The Rhinertum . This war will be ,without a doubt , the end of their empire.

The Gaullic Free Republic: The beating heart of Antoreeia , a land more famed for their fashion , art , and cuisine than for their military might , though their armies are large they're stuck dreadfully far in the past , still fielding their soldiers in bright white and gold costumes and sending cuirassiers on the charge.It will be a hard road for them as they are right in the center of Antoreia and conquering the Gallic lands is the first thing on the minds of the Central Empires.However as a good many empires will soon learn, if the flag of Gaul ever falls that only means the flag of la resistance flies high!

The Kingdom of Tilea: The Southern kingdom that hungers to get back the lands stolen from them by the Rhinertum , their mountain snipers and scouts are a thing to be feared and although they are yet to join the war , they surely will soon enough.However they suffer from a lack of manpower and are isolated from their allies.

The Kievos Tsarsdom: The northern bear , though falling apart sees itself pushed into the war to protect it's allies , with it's natural defenses and endless manpower the realm of the Taiga Prince is a thing to be feared. However due to rising communist sentiments , the country is liable to collapse at any moment under a wave of revolution. Thus they are considered an unreliable ally in the war.

The United Federal States of Balion: The great state of North Balion , they stand as one of the few western powers not in on the war. Their isolationist policy allowing them to simply trade and profit off of the war , no more. However they may join soon enough , especially if Rhinic plans to begin destroying Balionic trade ships go into action. As one of the few parties not in on the war , they have the advantage of both distance from their enemies , and a fresh ,well equipped , well funded military. And the hardcore patriotism of the populace means recruiting won't be difficult .What they lack in quality and hardened troops , they will soon make up for with ceaseless man and machine power.

The Commowealth state of Magnolia : A large island to the northwest of continental Balion , and one of Albion's largest colonial holdings . They are characterized as rugged huntsman and loggers , surviving out in the frigid wastes of Magnolia . They have both an Alibine and Gaullic heritage , they were originally a Gaullic holding but where later taken over by the Albines and used as a penal colony. The deadly creatures and frigid desert-like wastes of Magnolia force them to live on the coasts , where they thrive as Balion's northern trading partner. Now , as the queen calls all her subjects to war , they prepare to join in the battle , for the Empire! For Caroline ! For the queen!


The Central Empires:

The Rhinertum Osstereich : The Eagle atop the steel star is the symbol of the great Osstereich ! The efficient industrial heart of Europe they now use their powerful manufacturing presence to pump out rifles , planes , bombs , and submarines , they have recently made great strides in the realm of powerful Mechanical Armors , and their terrifying juggernauts rampage across the fields of Gallia. Soon their empire will run through all Rhanic lands , a true united Rhanic nation! For ze glory of ze kaiser!

The Empire of Helvetia : This small yet powerful island nation off the southern coast of Ergmir is half the reason this whole mess started , they are feverishly militant and eager in war , yet their generals are completely incompetent , and they may soon be swallowed whole by their 'ally' The Osstereich if they don't get their act together.

The Attalid Empire: The arch enemy of Kievos , and the only non western country directly involved in the war , they join to reclaim their once sprawling lands in south eastern Ergmir , hoping to revive their status as the fear of Ergmir and not some dying empire in the east. Their main strength is the fact that they have lots of oil , but this may soon turn to a curse if the plans of Albion come to fruition.

The Altic Commonwealth: Once a wealthy and major player in the theater of Ergmir , and a nation renowned for it's chess master rulers and fierce armies. This once powerful nation is beginning to fall on hard times and so to avoid being swallowed up by it's imperialist neighbors has joined the Central Empires. 


Tech: The tech level , due to the entrenched use of magic and technomancy in human society , is in many ways far more advanced than that of the time in our world , powered steampunk armors , battle automatons strapped with weapons , grenades that explode in lightning not shrapnel. As well as massive airship navies that patrol the skies sending down a hail of smoke and fire on their enemies. However the average soldier is still using about the same weapons as a regular ww1 soldier.
