A Christmas Kari

Post by KiloSasha on Sun Jan 01, 2017 10:12 pm

Kari could smell blood. Rotten meat, rat droppings. The stench was thick and seemed to surround her like a blanket ready to suffocate her. The next thing she noticed were the sharp pains in her empty stomach, the itchiness of flees as they crawled and bit her flesh. Her eyes shot open. It took a moment for her eyes to adjust to the darkness, but when they did she realised she was no longer in the warmth and safety of Finn's house. She was back out in the cold, alone, her only companions the dry bones and the rats. Her heart was thundering in her ears, the chilly air biting into her skin and making her tremble all over. She had almost forgotten what this was like... But why was she here? She did not understand what was going on. Where was Finn? Did he no longer want her? Was he just a dream created by her desperate subconsciousness? She stumbled to her feet and teetered through the graveyard. Oh, yes, she had forgotten what this was like. The weakness that seeped into her bones from the lack of food. Her movements were clumsy and desperate, her stick-like legs powering on as best they could. The only thing on her mind was Finn; she needed to know if he existed in the first place.

Finn found himself in his mother and father's chicago vacation home enjoying a nice family dinner when suddenly the memories of another life flooded into his mind. He remembered kari but at the same time realized he had never found kari; as he saw snow falling outside and struggled to process it all, it suddenly hit him if they never met she was starving in some cemetery, she was like family though he had not strictly speaking met her.... whatever he needed to get  a move on. Finn got  up from the table, leaving his family without explanation; he ran to his car and floored it towards his little buddy's cemetery

The gates seemed to be forever away, but she finally made it. Her little hands gripped onto the metal, the coldness biting into her hand, and she heaved it open as best she could. Snow clung to her tangled and greasy hair, ice nipping at her heels like an annoying pup. The sound of a car screeching down the road at top speed made her freeze like a deer caught in headlights.

Finn had tore ass down the street towards the cemetery skidding to a halt in front of it. He quickly exited the car, saw his little buddy mostly starved, and picked her up into a big hug he couldn't ressist doing even though he knew she'd hate it

Kari recognised him immediately, and relief washed over her because he did exist. Like she could have cried at that moment from just the happiness of seeing him. But she didn't. Because he was hugging her. Normally, she would have clawed his eyes out, but now she didn't have the strength or desire to harm him. So she resisted the urge to claw herself out of the embrace. However, she was trembling, either because of the extensive contact, or the intense cold. Or both.

Kari was knocked over from the weight of the coat. But she picked herself up andd put it on. She looked like a drowned rat; the thing was well past her knees. Still, she revelled in its warmth, and then climbed into the car.

Finn had a lot of questions but right now they could all wait, he had his little buddy and was going to make sure she was ok. He got in the drivers seat smiling a little at kari he said "I don't know what happened but we're gonna get some food, then we're going to go home and watch back to back lord of the rings extended editions." He promised her two of her favorite things as he drove off toward the nearest fast food place.

She cracked a smile at that. Those words made her heart happy. Especially the food bit.

Finn loved his parents, but he didn't return to the family dinner because kari was just as dear to him, and he didn't want to force the stress of new people onto her today when she looked like a starved animal who had been through hell, she probably had been.... but he'd find a way to pull her out of any such hell. So what he did instead of going back to the family dinner was stop at kari's favorite fast food places buying them a banquet of greasy food, and took her home where they both bundled up in blankets on the couch with piles of food laid out for kari and lotr on the TV.

Kari thought she would go mad during the wait for food, but once she got it it was definitely worth it. However, due to the richness of the food, she did end up having to run off a few times to vomit. And then she just ended up falling asleep next to Finn on the sofa.
