"Right... well we're in a bit of a tight spot and need more security" Rook said to her dismissively and then casually "Frank over there was our best fighter, I assume the captain can fight too, but I also assumed he wouldn't devote a large amount of our cargo space to expensive rugs, but he did."

Amos gave Rookwood a long and disapproving gaze, he then spoke. "I can fight, you never knew out on the sea if any pirates would attack..." He said as he took his sword, he has fought many would-be-pirates with it.

Rook met the captain's gaze unwavering, He knew he was completely indispensable, and he knew most of the crew left was not so loyal to the captain, his old ship hands had died in the attack, still Rook had no intent to mutiny or anything, but he wanted the captain to know he did not care about the man's approval.

"Hey, why don't I go back home while you two sort out your problems," She said dryly, gaze flicking between the two.

"No you'll stay here and guard me." Rook said to her simply, he was not joking on this, this was a hostile land and he needed her in case of natives or animals attacking.

Amos was not impressed, he was still the captain of the ship and if these people still wanted to have a sweet ride on it they had to respect his captain authority.

She threw her hands in the air in defeat. "Whatever you say, oh master Rookwood," She drawled.

Where as rookwood was unimpressed with the captain in every regard, again he had no plans of rebellion, but no wish to help him should that occur "That a girl" he said to the elf.

"I dislike you with all my heart," She murmured.

"I know Rin" Rook said with a slight smile

Frank pulls out his blade , an elegant basket hilted rapier "Do you have a blade monkey boy?" He asks with a chuckle as he swishes it around with grace.

(no response to the elf appearing or rook and the cap's standoff?)

"Truly. After all this time, I figured you'd have learnt to defend yourself even a little bit," Riniya sighed dramatically. "But I know how much you'd miss me if there comes a time when you need me no longer."

Elian shook her head. "Only a dagger."

Frank nods " That will be enough to teach you the basics , though I would have preferred that you scavenge a sword for yourself " he replies

(Franky has been around court mages and intrigue his entire life , this doesn't phase him)

"I guess you'll just have to continue to suffer my presence then, you signed up for it after all" Rook said casually as he sat down on a rock and opened a book on magic

Riniya made a sound that sounded vaguely like "Nerd." Or it could have been a cough.

"I'll look out for one," She assured him, unsheathing her little blade.

Franky nods "Now try and get into a fighting stance"

Rookwood rolled his eyes and kept reading

"You mean you dragged me all this way so I could watch you read?" Riniya asked.

Elian shuffled her feet into a wider stance. It was about as much as she knew about proper fighting stances.

"I dragged you here because we will later be taking on an empire of dragon riders and a blood god" Rookwood said to her

Frank nods and circles around her , adjusting her posture gently until she reaches the correct stance "This is your basic fencing stance " He explains with a smile.

"You... what? You're crazy," She replied, eyes widening a fraction briefly. "Oh gods... We're going to die." A smirk appeared as if she enjoyed the thought of potentially dying. "This is going to be so much fun."


Elian gave a nod, setting this entire thing to memory.

"Now mind you , this is a stance for a saber or rapier , not a dagger , for that the lower looser stance you originally had works fine " He states , taking on a teacher my tone as he does so "Which a dagger you're trying to get in close , take a stand and get out , often into the unsuspecting back of an opponent , a sword on the other hand , is different."

Amos just watched, let the kids have their fun and all...

Elian nodded in the appropriate places, hand loosely gripping the blade.
