"The question Isn't why kid... it's why not?" The creature laughed at her dismay  as Crow opened the book, and spoke an incantation which sucked the creature back into its pages. Devi was left to fall on her face

Devi gave a little gasp as the creature holding her up suddenly disappeared, and she managed to catch herself with her hands just before her nose smacked into the ground. She stole a glance to the man who was helping her for some reason, she still doesn't know why he swooped into her attic like batman. But she was appreciative of his being here. "Thank you," She murmured feebly.

Devi was too lost in her own mind to notice the state of his skin. "I-I can't go back there, they'll suspect it was me, they won't believe me, it's my fault, it's my fault..." This all came tumbling out at once, causing her to trip over her words. The last few words were whispered, and she curled up into herself, repeating the phrase softly while she did so.

She didn't seem to hear the majority of what he said, but at the word "magical" she recoiled as if it burnt her. "No, no more magic, no more magic..." She murmured. She didn't want a repeat of today, no she didn't want to witness anything like that again. She didn't want to experience the agony of when it gave her more power again either. It wasn't worth it.

"No more magic!" She screamed, curling up in a tighter ball with her arms in front of her face. As if coming to some sudden conclusion, she heaved herself into a rather unstable standing position, and murmured something that sounded vaguely like "I just want to be alone," but could have also been, "I think I hear a trombone." Honestly, not even Devi is sure what she said, as she shuffled off in a dream like state.

Devi made no reaction to show she heard him, as she stepped over the bodies that littered the floor. She just kept walking, without a purpose. Just keep swimming.

Devi, of course, freaked out at this, because she thought the beast was attacking her again.

Crow decided the most sensible thing to do would be to use magic to render her unconscious, and take her to his lair, so she didn't hut him or herself... so that's what he did

Being that she was so out of it, it wouldn't take much effort to do so. She slept for a good while, but was plagued by nightmares of blood and death and screaming and hideous tentacle monsters and her teeth falling out, and so woke up with a jolt, and looked desperately around for something familiar, something comforting.

Crow had made a stop to get he belongings from her home on the way ,, he knew  that going back  after that night would be both  foolish, and risky. she was actually on her own bed even.  Crow was scribbling research notes a few rooms away on one of his projects.

Devi groaned, and basically fell back into bed, pulling a pillow over her face. She never wanted to move from this position ever again. Not even to bake. She didn't want to do anything. Her phone buzzed. Oh, fuck off. She grabbed the device nonetheless, and squinted at the sudden bright light. Oh. She didn't even want to talk to Chris. Forcing herself to look happy just didn't sound very fun. Where did that other guy go? And why was she here, she couldn't remember getting back to her house. It wasn't safe here... here, where everything had happened. Oh, she felt like she was going to vomit. Can vampires even throw up? She didn't know, but rolled out of the bed to cough up nothing - she had nothing to vomit up. It didn't answer her question. Oh, she had to get out of here; everything smelled like her, and she didn't want to try and convince anyone she had nothing to do with her death. Dead. Your fault. She pulled herself up, and stumbled out into the hall, bringing up Chris' number on her phone to ask if she could stay at his...

of course upon opening her eyes devi could see she was in a stone room with piles of her stuff stacked up in the room. crow heard her get out of bed, and spoke from  the other room "You were delirious, and i assumed you'd want to hide from the police, so i brought you here so you could take the time to determine a sensible course of action. I also brought your  things" he added the last as an after thought

"I live in a tomb in the mountains, that's where we are now" Crow said as he looked up from his writing "There's a blood fountain that belonged to the previous owner that should take care of your thirst. just down the hall, he seemed quite an odd fellow"

"Umm, sure , why what happened?" He asks his voice tinged with worry as he hears her voice, she's been crying. Devi never cries, like ever "Are you okay, where are you?"

Devi was about to reply to Crow, when Chris answered the phone, and she turned away from him. "Chris... She's dead, I don't know what to do. I'm in, um," She wiped her eyes, looking back at Crow. "Um, I'm in someone's house, I don't know who he is."

"I just... can't stay there," She whispered. Her home would both be dangerous, and bring too many reminders. "Or here." The dude was nice, for helping her, but she didn't know who he was and she didn't want to stay here in an unfamiliar place for too long. She looked to Crow when he spoke, and hesitated a moment before handing him the phone, giving Chris a warning that she was going to do so first.
