A Competitor for Souls

Moura just sighed, and walked around until she felt it was done, then she replaced the lantern where she had found it. "Hey, any chance I can get rid of the weird ass lines on my back? It's not a very good look, you see..."

The voice was silent for a moment again, until it spoke. "You gotta be kidding me... Instead of whining how about you be more supportive of me? And no, I can't get rid of the lines as they are a mark of my demonic power on you. You can try body paint I guess..." The voice sounded disheartened by this.

"I don't even know what you're planning," She replied with a frown. "Aw no fair, what am I going to do now? I have some weird ass thing in my back and big black lines. I'm hideous!"

The voice continued speaking indifferently. "I don't really care... Why do I get the feeling that I regret recruiting you? We won't speak no more of this, I have much work to do and listening to your whining is not part of that. So shut up and do as you are told, I am following some rumors and don't need you to distract me." The voice told her, he was not interested in Moura's complaints.

Moura huffed, but spoke no more. She wondered if she should tell anyone about the back thing and the voice in her head... She'd sound insane, they'd lock her away for sure. Probably best to keep it to herself for now...

Few days later when Moura was doing a good job everyday with gathering souls, casting that aside for now Kai was in human disguise looking for an angel called 'Matthew'. Rumors has it that he is an Earthborn angel that chased the White Pearl out of this city, for someone who was once human to do something like that was applaud worthy. Kai was trying to locate him by visiting places he often hangs out at and walks the streets around where he might walk, it was only a matter of time. On the side note, Kai was always looking for others to recruit to his little soul stealing plot.

Shockingly Matthew was at the inn with Chris, Acheron, and Devi having a bite to eat, and talking about the magnificent seven movie.

Kai entered the inn, he took a seat and ordered some food acting like a normal customer. As he waited for his food to arrive he was looking at all the other customers, when he looked at Matthew closely thinking by his looks that he was Matthew indeed. He was observing for the time being.

Acheron sat there with Matthew and his friends, he was eating some corn as he listened to the others discussion.

"I didn't like it," Devi said, referring to the movie. One may notice that she stole a glance towards Chris more often than usual, particularly after she says something, as if searching his face for approval. It was entirely unconscious on her part, of course.

"Oh why is that?' Matthew asked devi "I thought it was okay, but it didn't develop the character like its inspiration the seven Samurai did."

She shrugged. "Just wasn't something I was terribly into," She said, eyes flicking towards Chris, before once again landing on Matt. "Not enough dragons," She joked, grinning.

Moura, meanwhile, was just dandering around once more with the lantern in tow. She was humming softly to herself while she did so, some song from the musical Hamilton.

"Is there something going on with you two I don't know about?" Matthew asked as he watched Devi's constant looks at Chris

Devi imagined her face would be crimson right about now, had she not been undead. She just shrugged off his question. "Dunno what you mean," She said quickly, before briskly changing the subject. "What was seven samurai like? I've never seen it."

"It's a story of seven ronin who are hired to protect a farming village from a large group of bandit" Mathew informed devi cheerfully "It's as much a drama as an action film though, the characters are better fleshed out, and katanas are cool."

"Ow" matthew said wondering what the fuck she was doing but as a gentleman he did not strike back

"If i fought off the entire pearl, and the archangel, do you think those daggers are going yo give you a chance?" matthew asked in a cold voice as she pulled weapons on him "They tried to assassinate me, and started a war... which they lost."

"Woah, woah, no need for those!" Devi said, eyeing the blades Nakita pulled out. "He was acting in self defense."

Matthew flashed her back

"Holy shit you guys!" Devi criec, shielding her eyes from the burst of light.

(XD That sounded disturbing)

Nakita slashed out with her twin daggers where she knew he used to be.

Acheron did not stand for this and neither did the people working at the inn, Cassandra grabbed Nakita and pulled her back which was easy enough since Cassandra is a werewolf. Brendon had pulled out a gun and aimed it at Nakita's head, Acheron was in shadow form and grabbed both of Nakita's arms to make sure she can't flail her daggers around.
