Rise of humanity: The Saga Of Steel - Page 3 Empty Re: Rise of humanity: The Saga Of Steel

Vesryn yanked her blade out of the chest of a human soldier, blood splattering on her face as she did so. The light gurgling noise made by the human as coughed up blood and the dull thump as his corpse crumpled to the ground was music to her ears; every one of these filthy humans to die is one less person than will stab her in the back. Growing up in a strict aristocratic background, it had been drilled into her at a young age that humans were dangerous and not to be trusted, and so she quite happily disposed of them. The elf had chased down this human soldier who had decided it was a good idea to make a run for it. Coward, she thought, seething. She had managed to get herself lost, as she hadn't payed attention to her surroundings when she was pursuing the human, and was now wondering about, hoping to encounter someone.

The knight soaked well in elven blood continued to lug himself through the forest, clearly he was not at a hundred percent. A hard day of killing elves Had really sapped most of his energy. so he kept a steady pace in case more elves caught up to him so he wouldn't be too tired to swing a sword

Vesryn's footsteps made only the slightest rustle as she walked along the soft ground. Her hair was tied up out of the way in a tail, which clearly used to be perfectly neat but now had stray hairs tickling her face. Clanking metallic armour and footsteps very soon reached her long, pointed ears, and she followed the sound, hoping it was another of the humans and not a fellow elf. She made more careful footsteps so as to not disturb any loose rocks or sticks and remained as quiet as she could until she spotted the knight. Carefully, she removed her bow from her back, and nocked an arrow. She shrank to a crouch, drawing back the arrow to her chin until the string kissed her lips, aiming at the human's head.

Fortunately for Arden, as he trod through the forrest he happened to notice the bloody human corpse on the ground. This tipped him off to the fact that there may be an elven ambush nearby, and he ducked through some thick underbrush through which he should be tough for any archer to spot

Vesryn crept after him, being careful to make no loud sounds. She cursed under her breath as he ducked behind the thick foliage. Giving up on that front, she put away her bow and arrow as carefully as she could, before squeezing her eyes shut in order to focus. Time to have some fun, she thought, forming an illusion that would shorten her ears and give them a more rounded appearance, and making them planes of her face less angular. She then hid her weapons, and made it look like she was wearing a simple tunic, including some blood for effect. She thought for a moment about what way she would play this, before rising to her full height and began to jog clumsily through the brush where she knows she will pass the knight. "Help!" She shouted, increasing the rate of her breathing to pretend to be out of breath. "Somebody help!"

Arden soon heard the sound of what was seemingly a terrified, young woman running by. I did not at all escape his notice that she was quite attractive, not that he wouldn't have done his knightly duty anyway, but that was certainly a plus, and at least a bit of a deciding factor. The young knight quickly wiped the blood of his face before stepping to intercept the woman who he did not at all suspect to be an elven spy, the surrounding areas were likely being raided after all there was no reason to think she was not a villager running from the elven hordes or from bandits, who would likely be waiting to prey upon the weak fleeing in the wake of the battle. "Halt m'lady I am here to assist, what trouble ails you?" He asked attempting, but failing to be knightly and not check out her body

Odette's eyes fluttered as she heard someone screaming out for help and she slowly rose to a sitting position. She quickly grabbed her things and ran in the direction in was coming from.

Meanwhile............

Mandrake was slowly recovering from him being knock-out kicked in the face.

She gasped and spun when the knight spoke, feigning terror at his sudden appearance. She made a show of checking to make sure he wasn't an elf, before visibly relaxing at her apparent realization that he was human. She couldn't help but notice the way his eyes moved, and she narrowed her own slightly for a second. How dare he look at me so blatantly - shameless human "Oh, thank the gods!" She said, rushing towards him and basically fell into his arms."You must help me! Th-they have attacked my village!" She gripped onto the front of his armour, hoping she looked desperate enough for him to believe her story. Vesryn wondered if she should just stab him in the throat and be done with it, but she was enjoying this too much.

Javek woke up as Odette just left, he shouted to her as he lifted his head a bit. "Where are you going?" Javek asked unsure what the sudden rush is.

Arden considered the situation and gave her a grave nod "Indeed, as King Bjorn predicted they show neither honor, nor mercy." He said simply "I head south towards the capital to fulfill my duty to the royal family, after some cowardly assassin put an arrow in the kings back, I had heard of elven honor, but it would seem that is but a myth" He spat bitterly, and offered her the only thing honor and sense would allow "I cannot take on the force assaulting your village while I have a duty o do, but you can come with me"

Odette sighed. "I heard someone calling out for help." she explained to him, quickening her pace to reach the spot where the screams came from faster.

Mandrake slowly stood up after waking up and glanced around. He hissed in pain, taking his one gauntlet off and looking at his broken wrist.

Her eyes flashed at his comment, but she managed to keep hold of the illusion without it slipping. The royal family... oh, I would return a hero if I was able to finish off the heirs... But that would only be possible if she could hold the illusion long enough; she had faith in herself, as she had spent years honing it. "Oh, thank you! You're very kind, sir," She replied, choosing to ignore what he said about elves, lest she reveal herself. Foolish human. At least us elves have mighty kingdoms and armies. And what do you have? Toys and dirt. You are like children playing a game you do not understand... And you will be destroyed.

Odette soon appeared from the brush off to the side. "Excuse me, but did one of you call out for help?" she asked the two of them, blinking her bright blue eyes at them as she stood there, waiting for them to respond. She was teen-aged and appeared to be quite skinny, but swift. On her back she held a bow and arrows and in the sheath on her waist she held a longsword.

Meanwhile...........

Mandrake started looking around for materials to wrap his wrist with, but he couldn't find any.

Javek soon appeared from the bushes as well next to Odette, he looked at the male knight and the woman that seemed to be in a bad shape. "What happened here?" He asked them curiously.

Vesryn turned at the appearance of more humans. Delightful. Well, she had gone this far, might as well continued. It's not as if she has much of a choice now since if she revealed herself it would be three against one and she didn't particularly like those odds. She once again feigned shock, and her gaze immediately went to their ears, and she, again, relaxed. "I... my village was raided by elves," She said trying to imitate the look of fear she had seen so often.

"We must help each other in the face of such destruction"  The knight said looking towards the blood red shine of the setting sun, seemingly he was somewhere else, in deep thought "We must move now" Was all he said however before he saw a other knight and pointed to the curious and tunic he was wearing "I am sir Arden of house Redmoon. This young lady seems to be fleeing the elven horde'

Odette looked upon the lady as she made a fearful look and she immediately pitied her. "Don't worry, I will help escort you to safety and protect you from any passing elves." she said honestly to the disguised elf before turning towards the fellow knight as he introduced himself. "I am Lady Odette, a fellow knight like yourself." she introduced herself to him, giving him a small curtsey to show him respect.

Javek looked at the frightened woman, he decided to be around the knights and perhaps offer comfort to the lady during the journey. "I'll come with you, it is best that we travel as a group and perhaps I can offer her a little comfort as I am sure she has just lost everything." Javek said as he put his backpack on his shoulders and went next to the frightened woman. "Allow me to introduce myself, I am Javek, a priest of Vamiun the God of the moon." He said giving a small kind smile to them.

Vesryn gave them a slight smile, aiming to look relieved, but wasn't sure if she had succeeded. "Thank you; you are all very kind," She said, almost surprised at how well this was going. For now at least; she wasn't sure how long she'd be able to keep this up. Already she could feel the familiar toil that comes from excessive use of her gift. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Javek," She smiled, almost bashfully, as the man introduced himself. "I am -" s*** -"Elise." The name burst from her lips as it was the first one to come to her mind, and she knew she had to give herself some sort of alias. Now, she just has to remember it...
