Doctor science

Matthew's Truck pulled off of the highway a ways out of town heading down a small dirt road. In the bed of the truck with a tarp thrown over it was one of the dead monsters that had been terrorizing the city, and in the passenger's seat next to him was none other than the lovely Linn... who he had brought to carry the insectoid human monster thingy's corpse. This certainly was no friendly or romantic outing, Matthew had gotten tired of the hunter investigation into the creatures patrolling the city going nowhere, and was taking matters into his own hands; If the hunter's experts couldn't find out anything useful about the creatures he only knew one person who could, Doctor William (Bill) Science, the foremost expert on the occult sciences and biology at his old university, a man who had gone so thoroughly off the grid after retirement, Matthew was one of only a handful who knew where he could be found.

"So..." Linn had been trying to start a conversation the entire road trip, but had thus far been failing. The awkwardness between them she knew was her fault, and she regretted it deeply. Any material item she gave to him didn't seem to make it any better; she was evidently unskilled in the art of emotions.

Matt was quiet for a moment longer, trying to think of something to say that maintained some distance from her, as opposed to blurting out with all the smoothness she had come to expect from him "I still love you" instead of that he asked awkwardly asked "So... what do you make of these creatures suddenly running all over town?"

"I preferred them when they didn't break my ceiling," She said, apparently more concerned about that than them trying to kill her. "What about you?"

"I'd rather my living room not be a refugee camp" Matthew responded with a small teasing grin after a moment

"You never did tell me how you wound up with three other people in your living room," She said, glancing at him curiously.

"Eh I gave the demon my phone number in case he had any more trouble with the monsters" he explained driving down the increasingly bumpy road "As for the kitsune, I found them being attacked at her house, and while I was fighting them I set the house on fire because I was just so hot." He joked

"You set.. her house on fire. You're a buck eejit," She said incredulously.

"Who even has a gas stove?" Matthew asks sheepishl

"You're such a spastic," She said with a laugh.

He laughs as he makes one final turn that should reveal their destination, he retorts "And you're a ho... so... there..." it wasn't his finest comeback

It was also not entirely false. "Well.. that may be true, but at least I get more ass than you."

"That may be true... but you don't get better" He teased

The winding road that led through the forest that hadpreviously been somewhat claustrophobic now opened out into a great plain, flanked by arching trees and backed by a mountain range. The great castle stood on a rise, looking out over the grassy plain bordered by hundreds of colourful flowers.  It was baroque in architecture, and therefore inherently over the top.
Linn peered through the window in awe as they continued down the deteriorating path towards the house. It is evident he doesn't get many visitors, for the path had almost been entirely consumed by grass and succulents and various spreading plants. "Woaah," she said. "That house is goals."

"For all the times he complained about a teacher's salary" Matthew smirked a bit as his black truck pulled up into the driveway or field (if there wasn't a driveway) outside the castle, and  honked a few times to let the professor know they were here, no phones at the castle meant matt had had to send word by carrier pigeon the day before. Not the most reliable method of communication, and he wanted to make his presence known were it unannounced, lest the professor take a shot at him by mistake upon him barging in.

(I thought carrier pigeons were extinct)

Nothing stirred in the house. Matt would know from his experience with the professor that he enjoyed a dramatic entrance and this was hardly a surprise.

Linn hopped out of the car and skipped to the front door that towered over her.

"Oi get back here and help me carry this corpse" Matthew called getting out as she tried to skip off

"Fiiiiiine," she said, and slunk back. "Ew ew ew ew ew" she repeated as she lifeed the corpse as gingerly as possible. "This is so gross."

By help Matt meant carry it while he went up and rang the doorbell, which he did do.

Linn grumbled the entire way to the door, which swung open with a loud groan as soon as he knocked. No one was there. The entrance hall was magnificant, with a painted ceiling, decorated in rose colours with cherubs and harps.

"We don't want to get all that blood all over the place inside just wipe it off on the rug!" Matthew requested of linea loudly, to draw out the old man.

A loud sigh echoed around the hall. "What does a man have to do to be able to have a dramatic entrance?"  A voice said, though the were unable to pinpoint it's exact location. That was, of course, until footsteps clicked on the hard floor and a middle aged man appeared, striding towards them like he was on some sort of mission. He was dressed rather flamboyantly, topped with a velvet emerald tophat.

"In my experience blasting an exploding monster through the doorway works... course it also turned my living room into a mini refugee camp..." Matthew contemplating scratching his head and momentarily forgetting lin was having to carry a slightly bloody monster body behind him. "Worth it I'd say"

"Mmmm, what have you been doing, Matthew?" He asked, unruly brows furrowing. His shocking blue eyes shifted towards his other guest. "And with a fae no less."

"Fighting monsters apparently" Matthew said gesturing to the corpse he brought, he knew the old scientist and occultist would be excited to have a look at something so unique, and see what makes it tick "I need your help with that, these creatures have been swarming the city, attacking people in the streets, missing persons are up nearly two hundred percent from last year in just a few months, they even attacked the establishment with my second or third favorite stripper." He explained to the old professor, and gave lin a teasing look, before turning back to the professor looking serious "I came to ask if you'd have a look at this creature, and see if there is anything that could be useful in finding out what it is or who made it."
