Re: The Aros chronicles

Post by The Lord Regent on Mon May 09, 2016 8:23 pm

So this is going to be starting in the heartland, non magic humans only are affected by the plague it's highly contagious and always fatal

Places Elvar and related places
The library: Founded hundreds of years ago by the first archmage Elvar Aros, the library The single greatest compilation of magical knowledge, and artifacts in the known world It is a highly prestigious magical school, and research center open for only the most talented of the mage upperclass Sephir and Aron are two of the most talented students to graduate here in recent years

The nation of Elvar: named after its founder Elvar Aros, Elvar is a magocracy based nation, its people have traditionally looked the strongest bloodlines as rulers, particularly that of the Aros family, a family which has since the founding of Elvar held the title of archmage. Under their leadership tis nation has accomplished remarkable feats of magic none would have previously thought possible. enchanters forge armies of golems, their stormweavers change the weather to suit the countries needs, Druids breed new and exotic species of plants and animals. the country is a land of plenty, and a seat of great power

Elven ruins: You can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs, if the nation of Elvar was an omelet the proud and noble elves would have been the eggs, when elvar aros decided to found his own nation he knew he'd have to make room. The elves were the dominant force on the planet at that time, their magical prowess was thought to far exceed any human, they were however cruel to humanity and often demanded human tributes to be given to them as slaves. Elvar wanted to make a statement, together with a small army of the 99 hundred greatest human mages (behind him of course) Elvar launched a campaign to prove that the mages of humanity were not to be trifled with, the campaign left the elves in ruin, battered, broken, and humiliated the remnants of the great civilization were forced to attempt to flee across the sea taking only what they could carry. however the mage's were out for blood Elvar and his twin sister together conjured a mighty storm, which smashed the elves ships and drown the survivors. these days all that is left of that mighty civilization are a few smaller underground ruins,, often holding knowledge of lost technology and magic

Mages: Humans with ability to manipulate, shape, and generate powerful magical energies All nations have them but Elvar has the most by far, the degree of a mage's power is based heavily on the mage's bloodline, the strongest known bloodline is that of Aros, Mages are not born at full power however their power continues to grow the more they learn and practice with their abilities (although some are born with huge amounts of power, see Aron for this particular crash course)

Demons: Beasts from an infernal realm that grow stronger upon devouring human souls, compared to mages a well fed demon is usually much stronger, and only a powerful and experienced mage can handle one. they are mindless at first but their intelligence grows with their power upon devouring souls

The plague: A disease sweeping across the heartland causing slow prolonged death to all not magic users, demons, or incredibly lucky humans

The heartland: A highly industrialized expansionest empire controling most of the continent with the secret of gunpowder, zeplins and railroads usually quite powerful though after being hit by the plague is less so, it has a democratic but corrupt government, that cares little for its people, and is mostly in hiding due to the plague

A mage's magic color is the color their raw magic takes before it is channeled into a more complex spell (like a fire ball or something). While silver and gold indicate high potential in the end a lot of it comes down to the mages training as much as their magic color but each color (aside from gold and silver) Indicates the type of magic a mage leans toward

Gold: Gold is naturally the strongest and the rarest (maybe two alive at a time). it can be difficult to control

Silver: Silver is almost as rare, it is all around powerful though not as much as gold, and the most clever in spellcraft

Green: indicates a talent for nature magic

Red: : talent in battle magic

purple: talent in storm magic

blue: talent for Ice and water magic

yellow: talent for enchantment

White: talent for healing and light magic

Back: talent in dark magic, black magic, and summoning

(some are multi colored

(I used to do accents for theater, it's not as hard as you'd think)

Name: Sephir Aros
Age: 17
Race: Human Mage
Gender: male
Job: Mage currently on a pilgrimage required to become archmage so he does a lot of freelance to make money
Magic color: Silver
Skills: very clever, prodigy mage, well educated
Appearance: a handsome black haired young man in a red mages robe with black lining
Background: he is the eldest, greedyest and cleverest of the two sons of the archmage, who have graduated from the library while his brother's magic is stronger his is by far the more controlled. this leads to uncertainty on who their father will name the next, as such the two are not only expected to survive the pilgrimage but make a greater name for themselves than the other
